About You:

This individual will set up and operate as available, various types of cutting, grinding, and injection and blow molding machines, ensuring correct machine settings, tool or mold, and operation sequences. In the absence of the supervisor, assigns, directs, and coordinates machine set up and other operations. May assign, direct, and coordinate machine set up and other operations. They will also provide work direction and training as appropriate.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• In the absence of the supervisor, directs, supervises and coordinates machine set ups and operations requiring a broad knowledge of injection processes, plastic compounds and production engineering applications. Functions as the shift lead to set up operators.
• Organizes and assigns work to utilize available skills, knowledge and experience, labor hours, machines and tooling to the best advantages to obtain most favorable machining costs, quality and workmanship.
• Coordinates production with Quality Assurance inspection activities a related to work in progress. Integrates required revisions to products or processes as necessary.
• Receives work orders from production schedules or verbal instruction from supervisor or Lead person and verifies proper tooling or mold requirements.
• Selects proper tooling or mold and prepares materials needed for proper machine set up, testing and operation. Inserts and secures required tools or molds to meet scheduled production, ensuring proper placement and setting and using manual or mechanical assistance to transfer tool or mold when necessary.
• Operates machine to test settings and makes adjustments to speed, feed, tool or mold setting, etc. to ensure product conformance with defined specification.
• Responds to machine operator questions regarding settings or changes to settings during machine production.
• Performs basic preventative maintenance and cleaning on machines to minimize the possibility of future machine downtime. Alerts supervisor and maintenance department of major machine problems.
• Performs related assignments as requested.

Specifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent, plus 1 year related experience and/or training.
• Average score on basic skills and mechanical concepts test batteries.
• Uses hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls. Reaches with hands and arms.
• Frequently stands, walks, stoops, kneels and crouches.
• Lifts and/or moves up to 35 pounds frequently and lifts and/or moves with mechanized assistance up to 7 pounds occasionally.
