The Mequon-Thiensville School District is seeking an exceptional individual to assume the position of Server Administrator. The essential function of this position within the organization is to provide information systems support, training and assistance for the District’s Information Technology Department. This position is responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting server systems District-wide, providing user training and support, assisting with department administrative/clerical tasks as needed, and performing related work as assigned. The Server Administrator works under general supervision independently developing work methods and sequences. The Mequon-Thiensville School District is a PK-12 district located along the coast of Lake Michigan in a northern suburb of Milwaukee that serves more than 3,500 students. Required education and experience:

  • High School Diploma
  • Computer Hardware or Operating System Certification
  • Computer Technology
  • Microsoft Windows and Apple Workstation Operating Systems
  • Data communications network technology and protocols
  • Effective troubleshooting techniques
  • Effective testing procedures and use of diagnostic equipment
  • Application support
  • Audio-visual/studio equipment

Preferred education and experience:

  • Associate Degree in Computer Technology

Required skills/abilities:

  • Valid Wisconsin driver’s license and access to automobile
  • Effective written and oral communications skills and ability to work well with others
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle urgent and unexpected situations

Physical requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force on a regular basis
  • Moderate dexterity in operating machinery, tools or office equipment
  • Normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing and speaking abilities

Reports To: Executive Director of Instructional Technology & Continuous Improvement Systems

Essential functions:

  • Maintain and support district servers (Active Directory, SAN, Assessment servers, etc.)
  • Manage iOS/Apple School Manager and Jamf Schools
  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain Windows based computers and peripherals
  • Installation, troubleshoot, maintain and repair of district Windows and Apple devices and peripherals
  • Provide support for Food Service
  • Provide end-user support
  • Document device issues through ticket system
  • Troubleshoot printer issues
