Benefit information can be found on our website at www.lacsd.org or by clicking on the Position Title and then the Benefits tab.LOCATION: FACILITIES PLANNING DEPARTMENT, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SECTION, TECHNICAL SERVICES GROUP, JOINT ADMINISTRATION OFFICE, WHITTIER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform complex and highly technical software systems support work and provide technical lead duties for project groups. JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of a Supervising Systems Analyst or higher classification, the incumbent evaluates network requirements and establishes network protocols and operating standards; performs network and telecommunications systems analysis and design; installs, configures, and maintains complex network systems including network operating, telecommunications, and security systems; troubleshoots and resolves network and security related issues; provides technical assistance and guidance to Information Technology staff and user groups; coordinates systems integration with other analysts, , users, and vendors; produces and maintains systems documentations; researches current and upcoming network and telecommunications technologies and provides technical recommendations for system replacement; consults with vendors to resolve telecommunications and network problems; and performs other related duties as required.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Candidates must possess a valid California Class C driver license; -AND- A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a closely related field from an accredited college or university; -AND- One year of experience with the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County performing the duties of a Systems Analyst II; -OR- Four years analyzing and designing data processing systems. A master’s degree in computer science or closely related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with: In-depth & demonstrable knowledge of LAN/WAN/VoIP communications, network hardware including Cisco routers, Ethernet switches, access points, voice gateways, and firewalls. In-depth knowledge of various protocols & technologies such as Metro Ethernet, MPLS WAN transport, OTV, LACP, EIGRP, BGP, and SIP, QoS, MCQ, CBWFQ, LLQ, Dot1Q, routing metrics, offset lists, ACLs, SSL, VPN and PoE; Experience with IP Voice technologies including the following: Cisco "CUCM"-Call Manger, Unity Connection, "UCCX" - Contact Center, Unified CCX Editor, Jabber, and "CUIC" Cisco Intelligence Center; Having a working knowledge of security solutions such as Cisco ASA/FirePower Threat Defense, Cisco ISE, and Palo Alto firewalls; Experience with enterprise cabling solutions including: structured cabling for entrance facilities, equipment rooms, backbone cabling, horizontal cabling, telecommunication rooms and work area components. Proficient in systems analysis and problem determination; Possessing effective oral and written communication skills. Possession of: CCNA Collaboration or CCNP Collaboration, CCNA Security or CCNP Security certifications.
