Job Purpose/Background:
As Greenbacker continues to raise capital and grow our investment portfolio, an opportunity has arisen to join Greenbacker Capital Management as a Senior Project Manager. While the role will report to Greenbacker’s Vice President of Construction, the selected individual will work and train closely with the entire Greenbacker Operations team. The Operations team is responsible for Asset Management, Field Operations, Technical Due Diligence, and Construction. The Senior Project Manager will have the responsibility of leading the most complex and technically challenging construction projects and ensuring successful completion with project costs managed to budget and schedule completed to contractual milestones. The Senior Project Manager will manage the work of the project and associated project teams (legal, interconnection, EPC, procurement) from RFP to project close out and hand off to our Asset Management team. As a small and evolving firm, the responsibilities will be broad, varied and all encompassing. Additionally, in joining a growing team there is significant opportunity to gain responsibility and perform high level tasks earlier than what is typical at larger organizations; such opportunity will be based solely on the merits of the individual joining our team. The role will be based in one of our offices
(Denver/NYC/Montpelier/Portland ME) or remote and travel expectations could be up to 50%.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage mid to large size utility/commercial projects.
  • Own projects from RFP to Project Close Out (Final Completion)
  • Responsible for managing budget and schedule goals of assigned project, from project inception through final completion
  • Develop/manage key deliverables from design, procurement and construction kick off
  • Perform regular risk analysis and cost forecasting and weekly reporting for assigned projects
  • Manage stakeholder communications (customers/contractors/senior management/utilities)
  • Assist with process improvements and development of internal processes related to the department
  • Manage construction management resources and outside/independent engineers assigned to your projects
  • Align support from other internal departments when necessary
  • Compile contract close-out documents and as-builts
  • Travel as needed to ensure successful project execution
  • Manage all procurement and project deliveries to site
  • Assist Preconstruction Team in coordination and preparation of RFPs for construction projects
  • Responsible for complying and monitoring company safety and quality goals for all assigned projects

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes:

  • Minimum 7-10 years of solar project management (commercial/utility)
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Experience/knowledge with electrical, civil and mechanical systems
  • Proficient written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple activities at a time
  • Intermediate/advance skills using Microsoft Word/Excel and Box.
  • Strong familiarity with construction and electrical codes
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Expertise in EPC contract negotiations
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawing sets
  • A strong focus in organization and timeliness with an ability to support other parties to help provide timely responses. This role will be responsible for reporting deadlines that can have negative consequences for the company if they are not met.
  • An Ability to maintain organization and timeliness in a chaotic environment and to help others in the department be more organized and timelier in their endeavors.
  • A true “self-starter”. We are a small team and need someone to bring the full breadth of their skills, expertise, and intellect to work every day to help the business grow and improve and not just be a person content to complete tasks and wait for direction.
  • Detail Oriented. Someone who will get the small things right and leave no stone unturned in the quest for precision and accuracy.
  • Interested in and have some experience in renewable energy and energy markets.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage workload autonomously and effectively.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to apply commercial judgment. Inquisitive, detail-oriented, self-motivated.
  • Excellent time management.
  • Willingness to work with a highly motivated, experienced group of professionals in an open office environment a must.
