DPSI is searching for a Licensed Mechanical Engineer III to join our multi-disciplinary team in Bakersfield.

General Summary

The Mechanical Engineer III position is responsible for leading and managing the mechanical engineering design aspects of multiple projects in various industries, including oil field and water infrastructure. This position will work closely with project managers, other engineers, and clients to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Essential Job Function

  • Design and develop mechanical systems for oil field and water infrastructure projects, including pipelines, pumping stations, and treatment plants.
  • Perform detailed engineering calculations, including stress analysis, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics.
  • Coordinate the development of detailed drawings and specifications using AutoCAD and Plant3D software.
  • Manage the work of other mechanical engineers, designers and drafters.
  • Review and approve vendor designs and equipment specifications.
  • Conduct field inspections and provide technical support during construction and commissioning.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, such as civil, electrical, and structural to ensure integrated design solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
  • The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Licensed as a Professional Engineer

Minimum 10 years of experience in oilfield and water infrastructure design

Project Management experience, including budget and schedule control

Knowledge of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Caesar II and Pipe-Flo

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Strong understanding of industry codes and standards, including ASME, API, and ANSI.
