What You’ll Do:

Support Management. Develop KPIs and standardized reporting for construction operations to provide analytical support for Management. Support Management on various analytical projects, including operating and capital budgets, financial planning models, and long-term projections.

Perform and Provide Analysis. Provide analysis of operational performance and financial results for Management in preparation for monthly operational reporting and quarterly Earnings Releases. Perform analysis using larger data sets, creating clear, simple reporting for the reader to consume. Develop quantitative and qualitative analysis for senior management and other groups in the organization.

Prepare Presentations. Prepare reporting schedules, performance analysis, and financial presentations for Management and the Board of Directors.

Support “One Vulcan” Approach. Coordinate the implementation of a “One Vulcan” approach to construction by developing common processes and practices for construction operations.

Provide Support. Provide analytical support for the construction line of business. Assist with administrative and analytical support for Capital Committee.

Champion Continuous Improvement. Work on additional ad hoc analytical studies and research projects as appropriate.

Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.


Skills You’ll Need:

Education. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.

Financial and Industry Knowledge. Must understand construction operations, processes, and accounting. Must understand the relationship between the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement. Must have an understanding of tax implications and the impacts on earnings and valuations. Must have the ability to analyze and articulate volume, price, and cost variances, including mix impact and the resulting effect on earnings. Must understand the construction percentage of completion accounting.

Communication Skills. Must have ability to communicate clearly, courteously, and concisely. Must display oral and written communication skills.

Technical Skills. Advanced knowledge of and experience with Excel is required. Knowledge of data visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau is preferred.

Time Management Skills. Must be able to work independently and think strategically in a fast paced environment. Must be able to prioritize and handle simultaneous projects under tight time pressures. Must have project management skills.

Interpersonal Skills. Must be able to communicate with and credibly engage colleagues at all levels of the organization.

Analytical Skills. Must be able to present complex information in a clear and concise manner. Must have the ability to make decisive conclusions and judgements with limited guidance. Must be skilled in analyzing financial statements and researching significant fluctuations/variances or performance trends.
