We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to join UnitedMasters!
# What You'll Do
UnitedMasters is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the team building the future of our music distribution and brand partnerships platform.
- Build and lead the full-stack engineering team that is focused on improvements that attract/retain new artists and drive market share in the DIY music distribution space.
- Partner closely with your product partners to define the future of our music distribution platform and build software that creates opportunities for artists to work with the top brands of the country.
- Own the technical direction and output for the distribution team. You will advocate for the necessary functionality and quality improvements in these systems. Empower partnerships between engineers and product, design, user research and data science to solve problems for artists.
- Represent the team and its work to other leaders in the company, and participate in establishing the overall strategy for the business.
- Be responsible for the performance and output of your team. Foster an engineering culture of respect and collaboration, with a focus towards developer velocity.
# Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proven track record in developing engineers and building high-performance teams at scale. Can work well with Tech Leads to establish technical guidelines and expectations.
- Highly communicative leader, who is able to both hold technical conversations with their engineers as well as high-level product conversations with stakeholders. You don't shy away from the difficult conversations to improve your team.
- Customer obsession with a strong bias for action. Understands the importance of researching the customer needs and iterating on solutions.
- A deep understanding of technical systems and an innate ability to get into the weeds of the system architecture you are building.
- Ability to coach and mentor other leaders, both tech leads and managers, to foster new leaders within the organization.
- Very strong organizational and prioritization skills, able to manage multiple requirements and requests for the team and create coherent roadmaps and tasks.
- You know how to work with product managers to plan roadmaps and hold your team accountable to their delivery commitments. You are skilled at identifying technical pitfalls and resource constraints, and quick to highlight them to the organization.
# Minimum Qualifications
- You have a CS degree and/or applicable experience as building technical teams and products.
- 4+ years of experience running engineering teams of either large scale or complexity.
- Technical understanding of how to build software across the full stack, and experience building solutions that scale.
# Preferred Qualifications
- Experience growing teams and hiring top quality engineers, understanding the importance of diversity and different viewpoints.
- Experience working on company strategies with product and business leaders. Experience creating engineering roadmaps alongside product ones.
- Experience managing and mentoring other engineering managers.
- Django or similar framework experience.
- Experience in python, Swift, and React.

Salary Hiring Range: $190,000- $230,000
Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and are one part of many compensation, benefits and other reward opportunities we provide (e.g. bonus, stock options, 401(k) match, etc.)
Individual pay rate decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company. We expect the majority of the candidates who are offered roles at our company to fall healthily throughout the range based on these factors.
The range above is for the expectations as laid out in the job description, however we are often open to a wide variety of profiles, and recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than this job description as posted. If that ends up being the case, the updated salary range will be communicated with you as a candidate.
The salary range above is for the NY/CA. As a company, we have a location based strategy, which means the salary range could be lower or higher than this if the role is hired in another location.
