As a Claims Specialist, you will play a critical role on the Professional team by managing and resolving third party claims involving AXA XL policyholders. You will work closely with your manager coordinating with fellow claims handlers to bring claims to resolution. You will interact and collaborate with senior claims leaders, the professional underwriting team and with brokers and clients on assigned accounts taking ownership of critical issues relating to claims management.
Our Professional Claims Handlers are tasked with resolving and settling claims proactively in order to achieve exceptional outcomes.
What will your essential responsibilities include?
- Managing assigned Professional claims across multiple jurisdictions, taking all available steps to achieve the best outcome.
- Partnering with defense counsel, internal and external counsel in-setting and pursuing effective and cost-efficient litigation strategies.
- Producing internal reporting and ensuring that reserves are set according to best practice guidelines.
- Coordinating and managing communication with internal colleagues and key external stakeholders (e.g., clients, brokers, reinsurers, vendors, etc.) ensuring we are providing the highest level of customer service.
- Identifying, monitoring and reporting on emerging liability and coverage trends.
You will report to a Claims Manager within Hartford Professional.
We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
- Highly motivated candidates who possess excellent writing and analytical skills.
- A JD is required
- Ability to manage all facets of claim files including analysis, investigation, and evaluation.
- Building and refining effective working relationships with insured, brokers, claim-handlers, underwriters, co-insurers, excess and reinsurers as well as external vendors including investigators and legal counsel.
- Passion for results: Approaching tasks proactively and anticipating needs. Thinking quickly and prioritizing multiple work streams without sacrificing quality. Acting with a sense of urgency.
- Intellectual curiosity: A willingness to ask questions and explore new ideas. Eager to learn and focus on continuously improving technical skills.
The pay range for this position is $95,000– $186,500. Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual’s skills, experience and location. We strive for market alignment and internal equity with our colleagues’ pay.
