The Public Works Department is seeking a Bookkeeper II or III to organize, coordinate and monitor departmental bookkeeping activities. Among other duties the Bookkeeper II or III is responsible for managing the billing process for Solid Waste charge accounts including, auditing solid waste daily work, preparing revenues for deposit and monitoring delinquent accounts. Payroll and accounts receivable and payable; creating project billings and tracking revenue; generating financial reports; and, monitoring budget expenditure and revenue reports. This position requires a person who is self-motivated, has excellent communication and data processing skills, a high attention to detail and enjoys working with a team. See for more details.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bookkeeper II: Associates Degree (AA) in accounting, two years as a Bookkeeper I, and two years related governmental bookkeeping experience and/or training; OR, High school diploma or GED and two years as a Bookkeeper I, and four years related governmental bookkeeping experience and/or training; OR, High school diploma or GED and six years governmental bookkeeping experience; OR, equivalent combination of education and experience.
Bookkeeper III: Associates Degree (AA) in accounting, two years as a Bookkeeper II, and four years related governmental bookkeeping experience and/or training; OR, High school diploma or GED and two years as a Bookkeeper II, and six years related governmental bookkeeping experience and/or training; OR, Two years as a Bookkeeper I, two years as a Bookkeeper II and four years governmental bookkeeping experience; OR, equivalent combination of education and experience.
Hours & Compensation:
Bookkeeper II: This is a full time, 40 hours per week, union position Grade A3-F. Typical work week Monday - Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm. Pay range is $23.09 - $28.84 per hour in 2023, starting pay typically $23.09 per hour, DOE. Full medical benefits, including dental and vision. Retirement provided through Washington State DRS. 12 days of vacation to start, 12 paid holidays, sick leave and bereavement leave.
Bookkeeper III: This is a full time, 40 hours per week, union position Grade A3-G. Typical work week Monday - Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm. Pay range is $26.08 - $32.57 per hour in 2023, starting pay typically $26.08 per hour, DOE. Full medical benefits, including dental and vision. Retirement provided through Washington State DRS. 12 days of vacation to start, 12 paid holidays, sick leave and bereavement leave.
