The primary purpose of this position is: To protect Federal property from hazards such as sabotage, trespass, theft, fire, and accidental or willful damage and destruction. Perform security/law enforcement duties in the preservation of the peace, the prevention detection, and investigation of crimes.
1. Conduct random patrols of all facilities and equipment with emphasis on weapon systems, firearms, munitions and explosive storage areas.
2. Respond to alarms and conduct random checks of area and perimeter fencing.
3. Enforce entry control to the installation and selected facilities
4. Provide armed response and perform law enforcement duties as required in accordance with Air Force and Air National Guard regulations and directives.
DUTY 1:
Serves as a Security Forces Dispatcher in the Base Defense Operations Center (BDOC). Dispatches Security Forces (SF) units to scenes of crimes, accidents and natural disasters. Monitors the location of numerous SF units. Receives and records telephone and personal communications of emergencies, complaints, claims violations, and accidents. Coordinates as required with civilian police, fire, rescue and emergency units for assistance. Uses computerized information systems to direct patrols, record daily blotter information, and retrieve information through the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS). Uses knowledge of the Security Forces Management Information Systems (SFMIS) to retrieve information and complete reports on the systems. Receives, records, and secures confiscated items and evidence. Assures statements of witnesses are secured properly. Arranges processing of arrested/detained personnel. Keeps all records of all reports and complaints. Prepares reports of shift activities. Interviews witnesses and suspects to obtain and verify information. Advises suspects of their rights. Receives and records radio, telephone, and personal messages and instructions involving emergencies, complaints, violations, accidents, and requests for information and assistance. Transmits messages and instructions to officers on patrol and dispatch officers to investigate complaints and assist in emergencies. Interprets directives and instructions and answers general inquiries. Searches prisoners and removes weapons and articles which could cause injury or be used in escape attempts. Maintains records and prepares reports covering activities and events occurring over the course of a shift. Operates, monitors, and assesses closed-circuit television (CCTV) for the installation and makes required notifications or dispatches a response force as required or directed. Operates, monitors, and assesses alarm sensor systems (Advantor) for the installation and makes required notifications or dispatches a response force as required or directed. Assesses the origin and cause of intrusion detection system (IDS) alarms in the area, makes required notifications, requests the dispatch of response forces as required or directed, implements compensatory measures if all or part of the IDS is inoperable, and completes documentation required in accordance with IDS operational and maintenance procedures.
DUTY 2:
Performs the full range of duties for defending Protection Level (PL) resources. Serves as a restricted area entry controller and immediate visual assessment sentry providing surveillance for sensitive, restricted, and limited access areas. Verifies credentials to ensure only authorized personnel, vehicles, and equipment are permitted in these areas; and those persons have a valid need to enter the area. Detects and eliminates threats to the restricted area and detains and apprehends violators. Informs supervisor and BDOC of any change or reduction in the capability of security safeguards/physical security aids such as lighting, signs, fencing, barriers, sensors, alarms, and locks. Performs ground defense functions during base contingency operations and exercises. Defends installation personnel, equipment, and resources from hostile ground attack. Participates in tactical defense postures as a member of a quick reaction force to deny infiltration or attack. Operates specialized weapons and special purpose equipment such as night observation devices and portable intrusion detection equipment. Participates in training, exercises, and evaluations to increase proficiency and update skills and knowledge.
DUTY 3:
Performs installation security patrol duties. Either by foot or driving a motor vehicle, patrols installation perimeters, flightlines, office buildings, and industrial facilities to prevent unauthorized entry, theft or damage to government property. Controls the movement of persons by checking identification credentials, including controlled/restricted area badges. Responds to incidents individually or as a member of an alarm/security response team. Provides other responding personnel with an assessment of the situation and background information as required. Establishes surveillance over the area around, approaches to, and activity within the affected area. Assesses or participates with team members in assessing and determining whether hostile or non-hostile action is involved. Detains security violators and employs search procedures. Implements security reporting and alerting notification procedures. Employs Air Force and local use of force policy and rules of engagement. Directs traffic and establishes cordons for emergency conditions such as bomb threats, natural disasters, and other conditions that may arise. As required, escorts, and protects very important persons (VIPs) and high-risk personnel visiting the installation. Performs ground defense functions during base contingency operations and exercises. Defends installation personnel, equipment, and resources from hostile ground attack. Participates in tactical defense postures as a member of a quick reaction force to deny infiltration or attack. Operates specialized weapons and special purpose equipment such as night observation devices and portable intrusion detection equipment. Participates in training, exercises, and evaluations to increase proficiency and update skills and knowledge.
DUTY 4:
Performs the full range of Base Entry Controller duties. Ensures individuals requesting access to the installation have the proper identification credentials before entering. Conducts random vehicle searches at the privately owned vehicle (POV) gates and conducts thorough searches of all vehicles at commercial gate. Performs random antiterrorism measures in accordance with applicable instructions. Performs duties as the overwatch as required by force protection conditions. Serves in visitor control center issuing base entry passes (individual and vehicle), and conducts background checks on contractors. Operates vehicle arresting barriers as necessary.
DUTY 5:
Performs Integrated Defense (ID) functions. Defends installation personnel, equipment, and resources from hostile ground attack. Participates in tactical base defense postures as a member of a quick reaction force to deny infiltration or attack. Operates specialized weapons and special purpose equipment such as night observation devices and portable intrusion detection equipment. Participates in training, exercises, and evaluations to increase proficiency and update skills and knowledge.
