Position Summary:

Tessera Therapeutics is seeking an experienced Formulation Scientist at the Scientist I/II to join the Lipid Nanoparticle Process Development team. The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience conducting research in the field of colloidal stability, interfacial fluid mechanics, microfluidics, or similar in the context of lipid nanoparticles, polymer nanoparticles or similar. This individual will be part of a dynamic, rapidly growing, and highly collaborative team that is driving the LNP formulation definition and process characterization to enable Tessera's novel Gene Writing technology.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop deep understanding of nanoscale interactions that drive the assembly of lipid nanoparticles and define their stability and surface interaction properties
• Contribute to the development of new analytical techniques to characterize the stability of lipid nanoparticles and its impact on product efficacy
• Apply fundamental knowledge of lipid nanoparticle-RNA interactions towards streamlining manufacturing processes
• Screen final formulation buffers and excipients to optimize shelf life stability of LNPs and mitigate cold chain risks

Routine Duties:

• Design and execute process experiments aligned with development objectives
• Analytically characterize materials using standard and novel techniques
• Maintain a thorough electronic laboratory network
• Organize workstreams and complete individual and team objectives to meet project timelines.
• Collaborate with internal cross-functional development teams
• Establish relationships with key external opinion leaders

Basic Qualifications:

• PhD with a degree in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical engineering, Bioengineering, Pharmaceutics or related field is preferred
• Demonstrable experience conducting research in the field of colloidal stability, interfacial fluid mechanics, microfluidics, or similar in the context of lipid nanoparticles, polymer nanoparticles or similar
• Preferably experience with lipids, lipid nanoparticles, RNA, and advanced analytical techniques for macromolecules and/or nanoparticles
• Experience with high-throughput process development techniques and statistical design of experiments (DoE) strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to complete deliverables within specified timelines.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying technical information in a clear and thorough manner
• The ability to effectively work with highly skilled and dynamic teams in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting
• The successful candidate will be collaborative, communicative, and passionate about their subject matter
