Job Description

Title of Position: School Directly Responsible to: Director of Status: Exempt
Psychologist Special Education

Primary Function: Utilize knowledge of data-based decision-making and accountability, diversity in development and learning, and research and program evaluation to assist staff with effective decision-making regarding student needs. Utilize knowledge of intervention and instructional support, mental health, prevention, and response to assist with the development and delivery of services to students to improve learning and student outcomes. Utilize knowledge of school-wide practices to promote learning and consultation and collaboration to assist staff in creating and maintaining effective learning environments and positive school culture.

Directly Responsible to: Director of Special Education

Minimum Qualifications: An earned master's degree or advanced degree of equivalent standard from a regionally accredited college or university. Candidates must also possess a Pupil
Personnel Services (PPS) Credential authorizing service as a school psychologist. TB Test clearance & DOJ fingerprinting clearance; An enthusiasm for curriculum development to support a young and growing school program.

Essential Functions:
Working within a collaborative, team environment, the Position will:
● Utilize appropriate assessment and data collection methods
● Contribute to school-wide assessment and data-based practices for academic, social-emotional, and behavioral domains
● Contribute to progress monitoring and data-based decisions regarding intervention practices for academic, social-emotional, and behavioral domains
● Conduct special education evaluations to inform eligibility, service, and programming decisions and completes them in a timely manner
● Provide counseling services in accordance with IEP requirements
● Utilizes technology as part of data-based decision-making practices and progress monitoring, specifically the use of the Welligent System
● Contribute to school-wide curricular and instructional practices for academic, social-emotional, and behavioral domains
● Contribute to intervention practices for academic, social-emotional, and behavioral domains
● Contribute to crisis response and intervention practices
● Utilize information about student background and characteristics to inform instruction, intervention, and service delivery decisions
● Engage in consultation and collaboration with school staff.
● Engage in consultation and collaboration with parents and families

● Engage in consultation and collaboration with community agencies and providers.
● Seek professional growth and learning opportunities to advance your own knowledge and skill
● Contribute to School and/or Profession of School Psychology
● Advocate for student success
● Exhibit the minimum competencies expected in any employment situation, including adhering to ethical standards, growing professionally, and participating as active stakeholders across school environments.

● Work collaboratively with grade level, cluster level, and enrichment teachers to create a developmentally appropriate and academically challenging grade-level experience.

Communications
● Communicate effectively, both orally & in writing, with students, parents, & other professionals routinely.
● Respond to parent and colleague communications in a respectful and timely manner.
● Complete and submit IEP goal progress reports in a timely manner.
● Complete and submit IEP documents in a timely manner.
● Participate professionally in scheduled meetings (grade level; faculty; Whole Child

Assessments; Professional Development, etc.).

Professionalism and Teamwork
● Model professional behaviors and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and the broader community.

Non-Essential Functions:
● Perform other duties as assigned.
● Assist in other school programs when necessary.

Knowledge of: Constructivist learning theory and its translation and application in the grade level of assignment (Elementary, Middle, High School); Classroom management strategies and approaches to help create a classroom environment of safety, respect, and learning; Cultural and socio-economic differences in the student population; Conflict resolution strategies to support healthy social development in children; Professional skills for collaboration and teamwork with other education professionals; Written and oral communications skills.

Ability to: Create and maintain a safe, respectful learning environment; Meet the needs of a diverse student population; Support student social and emotional development; Work collaboratively and professionally with the YPICS School teams; Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to support student success; Use modern technology for teaching, communicating and reporting.

Physical Requirements: Continual speaking; standing for long periods of time; frequent sitting, reaching, walking, bending, grasping, and pinching; occasional lifting and carrying, squatting, twisting, or kneeling.

Environment: Uneven surfaces, noise, quick work pace. Requires that the incumbent work effectively under stressful situations and respond to the unpredictable behaviors of students.
Frequent use of computer screen. Occasionally involves working outdoors and exposure to inclement weather. Infrequently involves exposure to traffic congestion. May rarely involve exposure to biohazardous waste.
