Our targeted services include home and community-based treatment, residential treatment programs, group homes, and special education schools.

We aim to develop trusting relationships with students and facilitate experiences that promote their ability to self-regulate; manage thoughts and feelings; and develop feelings of safety, confidence, and competency.Summary of Job Responsibilities: Nurses are critical to Mount Prospect Academys continuum of care. The position provides oversight and supervision to the medical needs of our residents. The Nurse is responsible for overseeing medication administration and ensuring that the overall general physical health of our students is met in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
The nurse provides general oversight to the medical office. General responsibilities are as follow: Maintain clinical licensure (ARPN, RN). Maintain up to date knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations Abide by, and assist in continued development of, policies and procedures Develop a baseline of knowledge health and psychiatric information regarding resident and family. Review intake information for relevant information, assessments and to ensure copy of immunization record and most recent physical (within 30 days) is on file.
Meet with resident within 24 hours of intake, preferably the day of intake, to review health needs. Assess students with medical ailments providing services and referral as needed. Coordinate with home psychiatrist/pediatrician to ensure all needs are met. Contact home psychiatrist, when applicable, confirming prescriptions and other relevant information within 7 days of intake Coordinate with Clinical team to provide medication management with routine consultation scheduled with psychiatrist.
Monitor side effects of medications as directed by consulting psychiatrist/physician (e.g. monitor weight, sleep, etc.). Obtain permission from parent/guardian for any medication changes, and document in KCARE. Create MAR for each resident and oversee medication administration.
Provide trainings to residential faculty regarding CPR, medical systems, medication administration and other health needs. Maintain dialogue with all faculty to ensure that they receive needed resident specific health information. Maintain regular communication with the family/guardian regarding resident's health needs. Coordinate with local providers to schedule appointments for residents.
Maintain and order medication supplies. Maintains current documentation for each resident of all services provided, medication administered, and outside contacts made in accordance with policy (document all services within 24 hours). Be available after hours to take calls from faculty about student care Perform such other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director or Director of Operations. Qualifications: Registered Nurse (RN)Minimum 2 years of experience working with adolescents Satisfactory background check Authorized to work in the United States Mount Prospect Academy assures equal opportunity and public access and, if necessary, affirmative action in all its policies regarding employment and provision of services.
