First Transit seeks a public transit leader in Fargo, North Dakota. First Transit is a proud, long-time partner to MATBUS, serving the Fargo/Moorhead area for over 25 years. Matbus provides both fixed route and paratransit operations. Candidates should have hands-on experience in both transit location management and transit operations with direct experience in computerized transit management systems.

About the Position
Join the First family as a Safety Manager at our Fargo (Matbus) location. This position manages and is ultimately responsible for the overall safety program at the location. The Safety Manager ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and company policy. Major responsibilities are listed below.
- Conduct or supervise interviewing, selecting, and recruiting an adequate number of operator applicants to effectively provide safe, efficient service.
- Supervise and coordinate the driver safety program
- Conduct or assist General Manager with safety training and meetings. Review accident reports to reduce the number and severity of accidents and maintain complete safety files (an example is accident report, I-9, bus reports, and worker's compensation injury reports).
- Coordinate compliance with Federal, State, and local laws and work closely with General Manager or Designee to accomplish company objectives.
- Complete additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 3 years of transit operations experience in Safety and/or training functions.
- Possess, or have the ability to obtain a Class B CDL w/passenger endorsement
- Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and written
