Function/Duties of Position:
The PHOT provides Intermediate Level of Care to patients ages 0-18. Obstetric patients less than 18 with a new Hem/Onc/BMT diagnosis are case by case. Patients with specific pediatric oncology diagnosis may be followed until the age of 25 years. Presenting diagnosis may include leukemia, brain tumors, bone tumors, sarcoma, lymphomas, blood diseases, immunological diseases, storage diseases, Bone Marrow Transplants and Graft vs Host Disease patients. Nurses on this unit also provide support to Hem/Onc/BMT patients on other units, to include but not limited to chemotherapy support, expertise with BMT patients and central lines.

- External Applicants: BSN - Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA). *Current OHSU employees: BSN preferred
- Communication skills including fluency in oral and written English
- Basic computer skills including the ability to send/receive email, navigate information technology associated with the position, and use Electronic Health Record information and tools
- Current unencumbered Oregon RN license
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or the Military Training Network
- Current PALS certification
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
- One year Hematology/Oncology/BMT Experience or completion of a Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/BMT Internship program
- PHON/ONS Chemotherapy Certification
Usual Orientation Time:
- New Grads – 8 to 12 weeks
- Specialty Experience – 4 to 8 weeks
- Experience, but not in specialty area 8 – 12 weeks
- Resource - previous experience in hem/onc/bmt with chemotherapy certification
