JOB SUMMARYResponsible for the delivery of safe, optimal, quality nursing care utilizing the nursing process, hospital policies and procedures, and professional nursing standards to the critically ill patient. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery. To demonstrate critical thinking, scientific judgment and leadership in the daily planning of patient care.

EDUCATION
-
Graduate of Registered Nursing program.

Initial and continuing education as listed in educational guidelines.

LICENSURE
-
Current WV RN license, intent to transfer to WV license from another state, or new graduate proof of intent to test. Employment in this position is contingent upon successful licensure as a RN.

Current health care provider BLS and ACLS preferred.

POC licensure obtained within one year of employment with yearly renewal in accordance with CLEA standards preferred.

EXPERIENCE
-
One or more years of hospital nursing is preferred.
-
New graduates will be considered based on the staffing needs of the unit.

CERTIFICATION
-
Heart Code BLS validation within 60 days of employment, with revalidation per AHA guidelines.
-
ACLS required within one year of employment, with revalidation per AHA guidelines.
-
PALS preferred within two years of employment and revalidation per AHA guidelines.

COMPUTER/TYPING/MATH SKILLS
-
Must be or become familiar with the hospital computer system.

Minimal typing skills required.

JOB SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

Must possess good oral communication skills.

Must be able to communicate with all hospital contacts both on the telephone and directly.
