Retail Area Manager (Santa Ynez Valley Territory) Job at Mechanics Bank
Mechanics Bank is currently searching for a Retail Area Manager. In this role, you will manage a Retail Branch and a group of Retail Branches within a defined geographic area with direct supervision to Branch Managers and BSMs within their assigned Area. Oversee sales, service, compliance and human resource related responsibilities. Closely tracks and manages performance to goal for Branches within the Area. Achieve sales goals and financial targets for their branch and Area, as assigned. Work with Region Manager to provide managerial and administrative direction to ensure compliance and superior customer service is delivered. Support Area in sales coaching and employee development. Represent the Bank in the community. Provide approvals for high-risk transactions and for operational exceptions. Ensure high quality operations and sales in the branches. Regularly visits the branches with the intent to observe branch performance and coach members of Office Management. Redeploy resources within the Area to ensure adequate staffing coverage.
What you will do:
- Responsible for overall performance of own branch and branch offices in the Area. Responsible for achievement of sales goals in own branch and for promoting a sales environment in the Area.
- Manages and provides leadership to Branch Managers, BSMs and other members of Branch Management to achieve superior results in human resource management, including hiring and performance management results within the Area. Leads members of Branch Management to coach and develop the employees in their Area.
- Responsible for overall branch operational soundness, quality and efficiency, for own branch and Area branches. Provides direction and guidance to the Branch Services Officer. Ensure the Area is in compliance with all Bank Policies and Regulatory requirements. Manages risk tightly and personally monitors branch operating performance.
- Leads and supervises Branch Managers and Branch Services Managers within the Area for maximum FTE efficiency and positive client experience.
- Executes on Region business development strategy. Establishes and maintains relationships with community leaders and achieves a significant presence of the Bank in the community. Ensures active community participation and leadership, including CRA activities, in communities served by the Area.
- Collaborates with internal and external business partners to successfully install their products and service to meet sales goals and financial targets.
Who you are:
- Leadership skills to lead and motivate Branch Managers to operate efficiently and achieve established goals.
- Thorough knowledge and skills related to standard banking services and products and banking internal operating policies and procedures.
- Ability to assess Retail Branches within the Area for actions to increase production, improve efficiency, reduce risk and to improve operating quality.
- Advanced knowledge of small business and consumer credit principles and practices.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; successful experience managing and leading people. Considered a customer service role model. Must maintain effective relationships with peers.
- Excellent business development skills, particularly related to financial service products.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients and staff from a variety of backgrounds.
- Ability to motivate employees to provide excellent customer service, demonstrate initiative, and achieve results.
- Knowledge of current applicable federal and state banking regulations.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Minimum 5 years technical experience and 1 year leadership experience

Pay Range
$83,290.00 - $116,600.00
