Job Description

Job Title: Resident Care Aide ... MEDICATION AIDE

Division:

Reports To: Nurse Case Manager, RCA Team Leader

FLSA Status:

Summary: Assist residents with personal care and in maintaining all private and public rooms in a safe, clean, attractive condition... MEDICATION AIDE

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ensure residents have clean clothing available and change clothing on a daily basis.*
  • Assist residents with cues for personal hygiene, such as brushing teeth, changing clothes, washing, etc.*
  • Assist with resident showering according to shower schedule.*
  • Make residents’ beds on a daily basis and change bedding as needed.*
  • Clean resident rooms, resident bathrooms, common areas of Westminster Manor and other areas as needed if there is an accident.*
  • Encourage residents to attend meals and provide companionship during mealtime.*
  • Fill out all paperwork and update binders on or before required deadlines.*
  • Wash shower towels according to schedule.*
  • Wash bedding as needed if there is an accident.*
  • Be an empathetic and efficient contact person to all residents and employees.*
  • Respond to emergencies in an appropriate way according to Westminster Manor guidelines.*
  • Observe and act on concerns as appropriate according to Westminster Manor guidelines.*
  • Receive requests and channel to appropriate staff member.*
  • Assist with resident activities when necessary.*
  • Maintain strict confidentiality.*
  • Receive all visitors in a helpful and pleasant manner according to Westminster Manor procedures.*
  • Careful observance and compliance of policies, procedures and employment standards.*
  • Provide courteous, appropriate and prompt information or support to staff, administration, guests and visitors.*
  • Attend all full staff meetings.*
  • Comply with all Westminster Manor, state, federal and other agency guidelines and procedures.*
  • Comply with all Department of Health guidelines and regulations.*
  • Attend in-services workshops and training sessions.*
  • Participate in fire drills and evacuations.*
  • Assist residents as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to distribute medications to residents

Qualifications:

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

  • Internet

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Less than 1 year experience

Specialized Training:

  • Comfort level working with senior population
  • Experience in housekeeping preferred
  • Facility training programs
