Our lab is interested in the nature of physical forces that drive animal morphogenesis. This position would be great for a college graduate who is interested in this topic and is working towards medical or graduate school. The job will involve performing experiments measuring responses of Drosophila (fruit fly) embryonic tissue to externally applied force. The work will demand considerable dexterity. Experiments will mainly involve light sheet microscopy and embryology; experience would be helpful but is not required. The data will be used by a mechanical engineer working in the lab to construct a computational model of tissue mechanics. Since this project is highly collaborative, excellent communication skills are required.
