Research Assistant Position in Health Services Research
Job Description: The Center for Innovation to Implementation (Ci2i) at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System is searching for a full-time Research Assistant for a multisite randomized controlled trial (RCT) aimed at testing the effectiveness of a mobile app for alcohol use self-management for Veterans. This project will test whether the app, or a peer support version of the app, is more effective than treatment-as-usual in reducing alcohol use problems among Veterans in primary care. Project sites include VA Palo Alto and Syracuse VA Medical Center, with the current position located at the VA Menlo Park campus (795 Willow Rd., Menlo Park, CA 94025).
Duties: The incumbent will collaborate with team members to execute project goals and management plans (i.e., for recruitment and data collection). They will help to recruit patients; conduct clinical interviews with patients when they enter the study; track patients for follow-up phone interviews; conduct qualitative interviews with patients and primary care staff; check and code inventories and enter the data; and construct the project databases. This position is telework eligible but will require incumbent to be on-site.
Requirements: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a health-related is required. Candidates must be a US citizen. Funds are available at the GS-9 level ($67,000 - $87,000 [based on level of experience], plus benefits) for 3 years, with an anticipated start date of Mar 1, 2023.
