The Equipment Reliability Engineer is responsible for increased performance of machinery and equipment by addressing throughput, run to run, and downtime related issues through failure analysis. The Engineer will coordinate activities according to World Class Manufacturing (WCM) standards (particularly the Reliability Pillar)while impacting the overall equipment effectiveness, through a systematic approach of planning and executing key equipment and maintenance projects. The Engineer role requires a collaborative leadership style and ability to work with others; is self-motivated; able to work with minimum supervision; possesses skill set that will enable and drive continuous improvement; and proven leadership to govern the development of world-class maintenance systems based on TPM principles. This critical, high-profile position is expected to lead projects and project teams across the site with an emphasis on improving equipment reliability by increasing mean time between failures and finding ways to reduce the mean time to repair equipment. This position will work to set up standards for the maintenance process that will be needed, such as, standardized maintenance parts and procedures, and in setting strategies for the replacement of equipment, capital investment analysis, and related project management.
The position focuses on the overall equipment maintenance plan within the team and entails active work in the areas of planned, predictive, and autonomous maintenance with the goal of eliminating unscheduled downtime and increasing the availability of machinery and equipment.
Equipment Maintenance & Reliability
- Serves as the IPT champion, and subject matter expert (SME), of equipment reliability and uptime, including managing / coordinating contractor work in IPT projects.
- Develop and adopt standards that improve equipment reliability, including but not limited to areas such as PM, AM, standardization, vendor selection, spare part selection, spare part stocking strategy.
- Leads the IPT’s objective of assuring critical spare parts are identified and strategies for critical spare part access are in place.
- Creates Technical Standards and trains operators on standards, including standards to support operators’ ability to maintain like-new basic conditions.
WCM & Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
- Works closely with IPT Supervisor in the development and management for both 5S & Autonomous Maintenance Calendars, including operator standard work (SW)
- Leads preventative, predictive and autonomous maintenance activities and supports the overall IPT reliability program
- Responsible for determining Preventative Maintenance (PM) requirements and developing PM frequencies for new & existing equipment, including evaluation of effectiveness of existing preventative maintenance actions.
Environmental, Health & Safety
- Behavioral role model for all EHS standards, plant rules, and corporate Values and Attitudes.
- Promotes, develops and mentors EHS initiatives
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in a Technical Engineering discipline (Engineering degree in mechanical, industrial, manufacturing, preferred) or
Journeymen status with minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience.
Formal training on RS Logic, PLC-5, Control Logics, Allen Bradley Drive Systems, machine installation, robotic automation and application, preferred
Practical/Technical Knowledge:
- Demonstrated understanding of Six Sigma & Lean Manufacturing concepts preferred
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, preventive and predictive maintenance systems, and condition monitoring and fixed time maintenance strategies
- Knowledge of Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Total Productive Manufacturing (TPM), World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and continuous improvement experience is preferred - Able to draft, design, and build prints for various applications preferred
- Computer proficiency, including a strong command of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required
- Strong project management skills with emphasis on the design & development phases on product life-cycle preferred
- Independently manage a workload consisting of long-term projects and unplanned day-to-day priorities required
