Job Summary and Qualifications

Our Patient Safety Attendant (Sitter) participates in high-quality, patient-centered care by providing observation and monitoring for high risk patients. In collaboration with the patient care team, the PSA ensures the patient environments is free of obstacles and minimizes risk of falls and accidental or intentional self-harm. The sitter also assists with basic activities of daily living.

• You will maintain a direct line of sight with the patient at all times, including while family and/or visitors are in the room.
• You will accompany patient and ensure patient safety during transportation, testing and procedures occurring away from the patient’s normal environment.
• You will monitor patient physical and emotional condition and report any changes in status promptly while remaining in direct line of sigh with the patient.
• You will intervene as needed to prevent patient from harming self or others and will seek immediate assistance for escalating issues.
• You will create clear, accurate documentation on patient status and activity during your shift.
• You will establish a safe, risk-free patient environment by utilizing knowledge of fall prevention protocols, inflectional control measures, and self-harm prevents.
• You will perform room assessments regularly and after any visitations.

REQUIREMENTS

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.
• Will attend de-escalation training provided by facility within 90 days of employment

SHIFT

• Nights / Rotating Weekends
