Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Job at Highland Valley Elder Services, Inc.
JOB SUMMARY: Menu planning, nutrition education and training, dining center and kitchen inspections, screening elders for malnutrition
AUTHORITY: This position reports to and is supervised by the Nutrition Program Director.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition or a related field.
R.D. and License required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 1 year experience in menu planning, nutrient analysis, individual and group nutrition education, food safety and sanitation. Individuals who have successfully completed a post graduate internship and passed RD exam are welcome to apply.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
RESPONSIBILITIES
I. Menu Planning
a. Utilizes inventory, commodity food offer, and survey results to produce a monthly menu in accordance with state nutrition standards Completes nutritional analysis of menu each month using Computrition.
b. Completes nutritional analysis of menu each month using Computrition.
c. Creates educational menu back each month.
d. Meets monthly with nutrition program director and kitchen manager to review proposed menu before it is finalized.
II. Nutrition Education
a. Providesgroup nutrition education to all community dining participants twice a year.
III. Training/Evaluation
a. Complete onsite inspections of all community dining sites and central kitchen twice per year.
b. Type up kitchen and site inspections.
IV. Screen elders for malnutrition
V. Participates in training and development activities to increase knowledge/skills for continuous strong performance in this position.
VI. Attends Nutrition Project Council meetings.
VII. Attends Nutritionist quarterly meeting.
VIII. Participates in required quality performance initiatives within program area.
IX. Other tasks as assigned by supervisor to meet agency needs.
ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
I. Environmental Conditions
a. Environmental Conditions: Work is 75% indoor office work; 25% outdoor (i.e. travel to nutrition sites, meetings, etc.).
II. Physical Requirements
a. While performing duties of position, employee will be required to sit/stand for extended periods.
b. Working knowledge of computers applicable software and databases and capacity to see computer screen and read written material.
c. Capacity to communicate verbally with staff/supervisors, consumers and community.
d. Capacity for the fine manipulation with use of office equipment.
e. Capacity for occasional reaching, lifting or bending.
III. Work Environment Expectations
a. Available to work an hourly position M-F, 9am-1pm, 20 hours per week
