Job Summary
Leads Engineering efforts of Turnarounds and Majors Events. Manages Turnaround and Majors Engineering activities to plan and coordinate execution of Safe, Quality and Efficient Work. Reports to the Turnaround Superintendent. Works closely with other Maintenance Superintendents, the Mechanical Reliability Engineering and Inspection Departments, BTLs on Turnaround and Majors, and with Contractor Management.
Principle Responsibilities

Engineers solutions that include resolution of Turnaround/Majors worklist items to resolve root cause failure, while meeting company and industry standards

Manages / Leads Turnaround Engineering milestones, and supports the outage downtime with timely and accurate Engineering of discovery work

Acts as the point of contact for all Engineering needs during Turnarounds & Majors

Identifies and resolves improvement opportunities, including bad actors and risk-based work selection for large Turnarounds

Documents all analysis and engineered changes (including updates of controlled documentation)

Reviews/performs engineering analysis of inspection findings (e.g. Fitness for Service, T-min)

Engineers safe, reliable, cost effective solutions

Stays abreast of and applies Industry Codes, Company Standards, Best Practices, and programs in engineered solutions

Maintains a vigilant focus on safety and enable others to do the same

Conducts field visits and verifications of engineering solutions

Keeps an up-to date prioritized worklist, and use it to effectively communicate status of work and commitments

Provides documentation and drawing updates for equipment revisions and repairs

Maintains effective lines of communication across the plant including the inspection group, maintenance, operations, process engineering, etc.

Provides leadership and compliance with Management of Change guidelines

Utilizes/participates in Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA) and risk approach to support recommendations and assist organization in prioritization of work

Participates in the effective planning and execution of turnarounds

Mentors less experienced engineers and provide technical leadership

Assists in developing engineering practices

Facilitates QA / QC programs for Turnaround Material Orders as well as during the Events

Leads / Facilitates site Work Scope Development Process; Reliability Work Shops
Job Qualifications
-
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree
-
5-10 years’ work experience in refining industry preferred

Strong problem-solving skills
-
Strong communication skills (verbal and written)

Ability to manage a large workload and changing priorities with minimal supervision

Ability to conduct site/field visits

Solid understanding of engineering drawings

Knowledge of industry codes and company standards

Knowledge of fixed equipment design, construction, and operating principles

Solid understanding of reliability tools, risk-based decision making, and available tools and resources

The salary range for this position is $84, 617.04 - $142,857.98. The compensation range listed in this posting is in compliance with applicable state law. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, job-related skills and internal peer equity will be considered in determining the selected candidate’s compensation. Salaries at the time of hire are typically in the lower to middle portion of the above range in order to provide the opportunity to reflect future performance-based increases. In addition to salary, PBF offers a comprehensive and generous benefits package.
