Bon Appétit and Epicurious are looking for a digital production assistant with a deep and demonstrable interest in cooking to join our team of dedicated, hard-working, food-obsessed writers, editors, and recipe developers. This is an entry-level position that straddles the editorial and the food teams, and whose chief responsibilities include web production (building recipes and stories in our CMS) and project management related to recipes and recipe-related content. Please note: This is not a video production role, nor a recipe development role.

Production responsibilities (75%):
  • Build and/or update print-first and digital-first recipes in Bon Appétit and Epicurious’s CMS. Includes strategically interlinking to other content, tagging with our Recipe Taxonomy, adding related tools to product carousels, etc.
  • Build recipe and other cooking-focused galleries, articles, and special packages for Bon Appetit and Epicurious in our CMS
  • Support the Associate and Senior Food Editors from Bon Appétit and Epicurious in the project management of digital recipe flows in our editorial calendar system
  • Work with the Art department to ensure that visual assets are delivered for all recipes
  • As needed, build newsletters in our newsletter system
Editorial responsibilities (25%):
  • Pitch and write content for both Epicurious and Bon Appétit, primarily in the form of cooking- and recipe-related articles and galleries. Opportunities for reported articles, essays, newsletter copy, and original recipes as needed or as opportunities arise
  • Attend and participate in editorial meetings
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; must be meticulous
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate across departments, and manage up when necessary
  • Ability to multitask across multiple high-priority projects; systems oriented
  • Sound editorial judgment and writing skills
  • 1-3 years of cooking experience or relevant food media experience
  • As a plus, desire to explore and advance within the world of food media and comfort and familiarity with digital media

Base Salary Range: $56,500 - $58,500
