ABOUT THE JOB
The ACLU seeks applicants for the full-time position of Receptionist in the Business Operations and Support Services (BOSS) Department of the ACLU’s National office in New York, NY.
The Business Operations and Support Services department, in the office of the Chief Operating Officer, works to enable organizational and operational effectiveness by partnering with ACLU staff across the enterprise to provide business solutions, training, physical space planning, facilities operations, capital projects, records management and archives services. The department continually evaluates operations to maximize resources, mitigate risk, and achieve the organization’s strategic goals.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Facilities Operations, the Receptionist is responsible for providing support to New York Office staff by greeting visitors, ensuring that incoming calls are routed appropriately, assisting with the scheduling of conference rooms and sorting incoming mail.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet visitors and notify appropriate staff
- Route in-coming calls to appropriate project/department, affiliate or organization. Screen & route in-take calls per designated procedures
- Sort & route U.S. mail
- Follow all security procedures for visitors, calls, and deliveries
- Maintain clean and pleasant reception environment
- Assist staff with conference room schedules and resolve scheduling conflicts
- Update miscellaneous lists (such as the extension list and Long-Distance Code list)
In addition to:
- Engage in special projects and other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with multi-line phone/switchboard
- Ability to take direction; ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communications skills
- Excellent customer service and relationship building skills
- Willingness and ability to see work through to completion and meet deadlines
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite i.e. Word, Excel, and Outlook
COMPENSATION
Salary for this position is $69,354. Excellent benefits package provided.
