The R&D Chef will be responsible for the new concept and flavor development of products that will fit the Pulmuone brand. Using technical and culinary expertise, the chef will create Gold Standard recipes in assigned projects to trigger new product development. The candidate must have Korean food culinary experiences. With knowledge of culinary trends, proficiency in culinary techniques, and familiarity with Korean cuisines, the R&D Chef will bring expertise in flavor development and culinary execution and will be a key part of the Innovation Team.
Job responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Formulate Gold Standard recipes to set target standards
- Generate a multitude of innovative product ideas and recipes to build prototypes according to short term and long-term project goals
- Apply new and trending ingredients and flavors relevant to customer demographics, focus on quality, health, and sustainability
- Maintain acute awareness of trends, restaurant menu, flavor, consumer food products, and comparative products from all major channels; analyze and report findings from competitor product analysis
- Create, innovate, and continuously develop new initiatives from innovation to commercialization and continuously improve quality, process, and cost of existing products
- Thoroughly document the results of recipe development, cook yields, and descriptive qualities
- Organize/maintain R&D kitchen and lab in good/clean condition, propose new techniques, acquire new raw materials, machinery, and tools; maintain necessary inventories
- Support activities related to food shows and sales meetings as assigned
- Travel to manufacturing facilities to support the launch of new products and improvement in production as needed
- Support with administrative work and other duties/projects as assigned
Skills/Qualifications:
- BS preferred in Culinary Arts or equivalent
- 1-2 year as R&D chef for Korean cuisine, with an emphasis on ‘healthy cooking’ preferred
- Bilingual in Korean
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PPT
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Self-directed and ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
