Light Metals Coloring, a world-class provider of metal finishing and coatings, is looking for an exceptional Quality Specialist.


This role

  • Supports the operations team through implementing and monitoring quality assurance compliance initiatives.
  • Provides continual education, training and development relative to QMS.
  • Supports internal and external quality audits.
  • Directs corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provides period lot testing and analysis.
  • Directs corrective actions and continuous improvement.
  • Provides customer reports and maintains procedures and work instructions.


Key Activities and Responsibilities

1. Provide continual organizational and employee education, training and development relative to QMS

a. Ensure process and procedures defined in the Quality Management System (QMS) are understood and followed as necessary to maintain Quality System Approvals.

b. Ensures awareness and training of Order Prep technicians concerning material, product, or process quality and reliability. Ensure compliance and safe operation of all inspection/compliance test activities.

c. Execute standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.

2. Support internal and external quality audits to ensure contract and quality compliance.

a. Support internal and external audit activities (System, workstation, NADCAP, Customer, etc.) as required to meet requirements and maintain approvals.

b. Audit Export Control requirements and controls, taking necessary steps to always ensure export compliance.

c. Audit Federal Firearms License (FFL) compliance throughout the organization.

3. Provide period lot testing and analysis

a. Prepares and provides the Quality Manager with statistical data, prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data, making recommendations.

b. Determines quality improvement parameters by identifying statistical methods relevant to manufacturing processes.

c. Establishes statistical confidence by identifying sample size and acceptable error, determining levels of confidence.

d. Conducts quality testing on parts, under supervision.

4. Manage Calibration System

a. Perform internal calibrations

b. Arrange for calibration by an external approved source.

c. Review the results of calibration and take the necessary action when an out of calibration condition is identified.

d. Maintain the calibration log and records

5. Direct corrective actions and continuous improvement

a. Actively participate in the Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) process. Examples include daily stand-up Quality reviews, Non-conformance tracking and data collection / actions.

b. Oversees customer returns, customer corrective actions, and internal corrective actions.

c. Assists with the timely completion of corrective actions, internal and external • Capable to respond with structured problem- solving methods to internal and external complaints.

d. Issue and maintain corrective action system and lead corrective action teams.

e. Prepares project plans and leads teams in continuous improvements.

6. Perform administrative activities (Documents and Records).

a. Prepares customer reports (survey’s data)

b. Update/Maintain procedures and work instructions.

c. Follow up, sort and publish

i. Log distributions

ii. Monthly summaries

d. Input and file

i. RMA periodic reports

ii. Data yield summary reports


To be successful in this role, the right candidate must:

  • Be strategic, results-focused, goal-oriented, accurate, detail-oriented, organized, team-focused and reliable.
  • Be proficient in basic chemistry and math.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Have effective oral, written and interactive English communication.
  • Have good manual dexterity and routinely move through all production areas.
  • Have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Have 3+ years’ experience in quality control/or inspection.


Starting rate $20/hour.
