ACET is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician in our San Diego, CA location.


Responsibilities:

The Quality Assurance/Control Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that assigned aircraft are maintained within required specifications and are airworthy before returning to customer. Inspects the work of Aircraft Mechanics, Aircraft Structure, Surfaces and System Assemblers and Avionics Technicians. Ensures maintenance repairs and modifications performed to aircraft structures, aircraft engines, electrical, avionics and aircraft sub-systems meet all requirements. Applies technical knowledge and expertise in determining proper equipment installation and operation. Applies comprehensive technical expertise to assist the maintenance team in solving complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufactures’ manuals. Must possess the experience and ability to provide technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and customers alike, must possess excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery schedule. This position is responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts. This person shall have sufficient knowledge and experience to effectively assume responsibility for the overall quality and safety of the site contractor maintenance effort in accordance with the NAVAIRINST 3710.1 series and the COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series. This person will work directly with the local government inspection/surveillance team for audits and surveillance. This position requires the individual to manage/supervise the contractor effort while away from home station or in the absence of the site lead. This person must have knowledge of project planning, management skills, proven leadership ability, in-depth knowledge of quality management, concepts, techniques, tools, and procedures. Ability to work various shifts and travel to support customer requirements.


Qualifications:

  • Must have at least six (6) years of experience in the following areas: Quality Assurance/Improvement/Control, ISO-9001, and Safety & Environmental Compliance. At least four (4) years H1/H53/H60 or equivalent rotary wing aircraft maintenance experience required.
  • Skilled/qualified in Naval Aircraft Maintenance, equivalent skill designation from other services, or possess valid FAA Airframe and Power plant Certification.
  • Minimum four (4) years as a CDI/CDQAR/QAR or equivalent service designation
  • Bachelor's Degree or four years additional experience.
  • USMC/Navy Quality Assurance Administration Course or equivalent.
  • DEPOT level modification and maintenance experience preferred
  • Able to perform quality technical inspection of aircraft, aircraft components, parts, repairs, and systems (including avionics, electrical, instrument and armament) as required by functional assignment.
  • Excellent in oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, technical manuals, and use measuring instruments, gauges, tools, and test equipment.
  • Perform quality and safety inspections of on-site equipment and tools used in aircraft maintenance and equipment.
  • Provide response to customer concerns and findings, and track corrective actions taken in response to internal and customer audit findings.
  • Ensure contract performance conforms to established standards and Government agency guidelines, guaranteeing lasting customer satisfaction by performing initial, in-progress and final quality technical inspections during maintenance, repair, modification, rework, and overhaul of aircraft, aircraft components, and component parts.
  • Ensure site compliance with company programs, FAA, Government directives, airworthiness directives and aircraft configuration, ensuring modification and maintenance is conducted utilizing approved data.
  • Provide technical guidance, instructions, and interpretation of written instructions and procedures to achieve compliance with all applicable safety and quality standards and provide leadership and knowledge to staff members and teams.
  • Able to collaborate with EH&S, Compliance staff and other sites Quality Controls for writing and annual reviews of Ground Operating Procedures with the Government Flight Representative IAW DCMA INST 8210-1C and NAVAIR INST 3710.1 series.
  • Strong experience with the COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series.
  • Perform troubleshooting, repair, modifications, corrosion control and preservation of aircraft and aircraft systems and aircraft sub-systems.
  • Demonstrate an expert knowledge of aircraft, aircraft systems, and component parts.
  • Detect, prevent and treat corrosion.
  • Knowledge of the proper use of hand tools in aircraft maintenance.
  • Able to complete maintenance documentation accurately as required by job assignment and company policy.
  • Work with senior management to maintain a Quality Management System (QMS) and safety programs, to include policies, processes, procedures, and controls.
  • Monitor compliance, conduct audits and provide guidance in Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Programs, (FOD/Lockout-Tag out/Fall Protection).
  • Capable of maintaining awareness of regulatory changes and disseminates safety-related bulletins, technical changes and literature to work site personnel. This person may be responsible for investigating mishaps and injuries and overseeing technical library.
  • Must be able to pass drug test and fit for work physical as required
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver 50 lbs.
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance required by the Government.
  • Able to obtain and maintain required clearance for Common Access Card (CAC).
  • This position requires work on, in, and around aircraft.


Skills Preferred:


  • Able to assist in preparation, processing, and answering of Product Quality Deficiency Reports (PQDRs).
  • Familiar with Engineering Change requests
  • Knowledge of Aircraft system Proto-type work and the Validation/Verification requirements
