Our new Lebanon site will be Thermo Fisher Scientific’s largest designated Single-Use Technology (SUT) manufacturing facility in the world! This position is a 10-hr night shift from 8:00pm to 6:30am, Monday-Thursday and Friday is optional overtime.


The QC Specialist I, is responsible for giving direction in the Inspection of BPCs (BioProcess containers) in a highly regulated production environment, must manage workflow for quality to efficiently achieve team goals and utilize quality and production resources. A QC Specialist I must be able to motivate and inspire the team with an emphasis on continuously improving quality processes to adapt to changing customer needs in a dynamic and profitable industry.



What you will do?
  • Coordinate activities of QC labs and Quality Control with Team Lead and Production Spec II to meet production goals, quality and cost objectives.
  • Coordinate staffing, interviewing and planning to meet company objectives and work load.
  • Manage deployment of personnel across all work areas, prioritizing Quality and department schedules.
  • Assist in the direction of a team of QC In-process Associates.
  • Inspection of product to drawings, specifications and procedures.
  • Maintain good documentation practices.
  • Correctly and accurately document inspection in process control documents and inspection forms.
  • Verify OOS and verify chambers that are QC observations and chambers that fail.
  • Train QC in process Associates.
  • Participate on special projects as assigned.
  • May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.
  • Review WID, SOP and recommend improvements, communicate and train entire team on any changes.
  • Participate in Spec review and approval as needed.
  • Support in-coming inspection, film testing, disposal forms.

How will you get here?
Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED minimally required.

Experience:
  • 0-1 years of manufacturing experience required; 1+ years of regulated manufacturing experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Knowledge of computer applications and current software is desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail is crucial, excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to read and interpret important documentation and directions: including critical details with drawings and special instructions, in order to properly inspect products.
  • Good Interpersonal Skills and time management.
  • Demonstrate reliability through exceptional attendance.
  • Ability to work with production personnel to ensure good quality and workflow.
  • Knowledge of BPC film and familiarity with their common associated defects.
  • Desire to meet and/or exceed set performance goals and requirements.
  • Objective thinking and rational decision making.
  • Ability to accept and use constructive criticism to improve performance.

Physical and Environmental Requirements and Information
  • Work in a fast-paced environment for 8-12 hours a night, depending on shift, with additional overtime as required.
  • Ability to enter the clean room as needed. Clean room is a controlled environment with a humidity of 30% or greater and a temperature between 60⁰ and 70⁰ F and some ambient noise.
  • Specific gowning requirements include, but are not limited to: gloves, hair net, beard net, face cover, safety glasses with no makeup / jewelry or piercings.
  • Use PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and understand chemical hygiene including labels and SDS (Safety Data Sheets), common chemicals used include: disinfectants, solvents and IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol 70% and 99%).
  • Must have the ability to inspect bio-process containers on a light table for an entire shift, stand and move about including reaching, bending, stooping, grasping and lifting.
  • Must have the ability to use hand tools and equipment including forceful gripping, grasping, pushing, pulling and repetitive motion along with frequently lifting and manipulating up to 40 pounds unassisted.
