Job Title: QC Lab Technician

Quality Control Lab Technician operates under the supervision of the Lab Supervisor and the Lab Director. The successful candidate will be responsible for testing raw materials when needed and finished products to ensure product quality matches specifications. He or she will also participate in the R&D aspects of the job, including sample preparation, development projects, and plant line trials. Must have experience in data collection and interpretation as well as the storage and retrieval of samples in a laboratory setting. Chemistry degree is preferred, however non-degreed candidates are considered with 3 years experience.

Role and Function

Maintains glassware by picking-up, cleaning, washing, sterilizing, and distributing.

Keeps laboratory supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, verifying receipt

Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, coordinate repairs.

Documents information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books.

Resolves problems by examining and evaluating data, selecting corrective steps.

Enhances laboratory and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Perform quality control tests

Assist with testing and calibrating lab equipment in preparation for specific tasks

Perform quality control tests on raw materials, completed products and develop project samples

Prepare samples prior to shipping them to customers

Follow all company policies and procedures to ensure product integrity and quality control

Analyze retrieved data and prepare reports for laboratory management

Recognize and report any safety issues

Generate COA’s by entering data into Chempax

College degree (Chemistry) preferred with 1+ years of experience. D

(3 years exp in chemical lab setting without degree considered as well). E

Capable of prioritizing tasks to meet goals and ensure product quality. E

Willing to meet on-call obligations as needed. E

Ability to communicate effectively. E

Skills

· Manual Titrations. D

· Perform Calibration on lab equipment. D

· Perform IR scan and product search. D

· Color measurement. D

· Automatic potentiometer operation. D

· Brookfield viscometer operation. D

· HPLC and GC operation with chemist guidance. D

· pH and activity adjustments. D

Personal Qualities

· Able to work independently. E

· Able to work efficiently and effectively with others. E

Work Environment

  • Able to lift up to 35 lbs. E

· Ability to work OT and on the off-shift when necessary. E

· Able to stand or walk entirety of shift. E

  • Works in manufacturing and/or office environment as well as outdoors in all temperatures. E
