A government entity in Pensacola is searching for a full-time Purchasing Specialist to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to process purchase requests, product research, vendor negotiations, and market and cost analysis. The ideal candidate will also assist in the implementation of the minority outreach program.

What you’ll be doing to make an impact:
  • Reviews and processes a wide variety of requisitions, purchase orders, and change orders for products, services, and other related items by ensuring requisitions are properly completed and authorized, evaluating requests for quotations for thoroughness and correctness, and maintaining purchase orders.
  • Monitors vendor compliance with contract and purchase order specifications and standards by identifying and recommending appropriate modifications and amendments
  • Participates in formal and informal bid and proposal processes for equipment, supplies, construction projects, and other services by researching items and services required by the County to be purchased by quote or sealed bid, by conducting pre-solicitation meetings and bid and proposal openings, and preparing notices and addendums to formal solicitations
  • Evaluates requests for proposal and invitations to bid to ensure necessary components and elements are included to obtain a fair and equitable bid
  • Determines compliance with applicable regulations by reviewing bids, participating in related meetings, making recommendations for bid awards, and posting award compliance
  • Provides support to the Division by assisting in the implementation of the County's minority outreach program
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level
What you’ll bring to the table:
  • Associate degree or two-year technical certificate and three years of work experience in the field of logistics, supply chain management, ordering and receiving of goods, and/or formal solicitation processing; or a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics (KSAOs): governmental procurement principles and practices, product and service research methods,applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, regulations, codes, and/or statutesusing a computer and related software applications, processing requests for procurements, conducting research. preparing and maintaining a variety of records and reports, processing purchase orders, bids, and proposals
  • Communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
  • Positions in this class typically require sitting, standing, talking, hearing, seeing, finger and hand dexterity as well as repetitive motions.
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally; does involve sitting most of the time
  • Serve the public with honesty and integrity
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, elected and appointed officials and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
