Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced purchasing manager to handle our company's procurement activities. The purchasing manager's responsibilities include developing purchasing strategies, maintaining positive relationships with suppliers, coordinating with internal teams regarding their supply needs, and ensuring key deliverables are maintained.

To be successful as a purchasing manager you should be able to manage and optimize purchasing activities and processes. An outstanding purchasing manager should have excellent leadership abilities and be able to negotiate the best possible deals with suppliers. As a leader, you will provide guidance to the team for successful execution of vehicle programs. You will take the lead on the improvement of various processes, standards, and purchasing operational plans. This position also provides support for the organization's business strategies with a direct impact on the business and overall functional results.

Opportunity, Responsibilities, & Mission

  • Develop and execute purchasing strategies in an ambiguous environment.
  • Manage daily purchasing activities and support cross functional staffs.
  • Manage supplier relations and negotiate contracts, terms and conditions, pricing, material requirements and cost savings goals.
  • Maintain supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation.
  • Coordinate with inventory control to determine and manage inventory needs.
  • Ensure that all procured items meet the required quality standards and specifications.
  • Manage a plan for every part and issue timely POs to align with program timing.
  • Prepare cost estimates and manage budgets.
  • Work to improve purchasing systems and processes.
  • Collaborate cross functionally with Engineering, Program Management, Legal, Quality, IT and Finance to identify creative solutions in a fast-paced environment (create 'one team').
  • Manage sourcing plan timelines and issue resolution, communicating and escalating as required.
  • Keep up to date on industry trends, new technologies and challenges.

Experience & Skills

  • Degree in business administration or a related field.
  • 5 years of purchasing experience negotiating Terms and Conditions, sourcing strategies, cost reduction strategies and managing complex contracts across multiple stakeholders.
  • Deep knowledge of inventory and supply chain management.
  • Ability to solve complex problems with suppliers and key stakeholders.
  • High degree of organizational skills including the ability to prioritize, handle multiple projects simultaneously, problem solve and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proven track record of delivering innovative solutions, on time, with quality.
  • Strong critical thinking and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (strong excel skills) and purchasing software.
