Purchasing Manager Job at Standard Motor Products
This position is for our Milwaukee & Sheboygan location.
80% of work will be in whichever office is closes while 20% will be traveling to work in the other office.
Primary Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Vice President, the Purchasing Manager is responsible for the purchasing of materials, equipment, and supplies in the organization taking in to consideration cost, quality and production time restraints.
Duties:
· Manages the implementation of sourcing strategies including; negotiating contracts and supplier agreements on materials, equipment, tooling, supplies, logistics and/or services.
· Make strategic sourcing decisions based on developing, maintaining, and analyzing current trends and future outlooks for our key material commodities, markets, industries and regulations to ensure reliability of sourcing at the best total value.
· Measure, monitor and report on Key Supply management performance metrics
· Develop, implement, and monitor action plans as necessary to achieve goals and objectives.
· Coordinate and conduct supplier visits for evaluating potential suppliers, evaluating and verifying existing suppliers facilities, systems, capabilities and to ensure the continuity of supply.
· Participate in cross functional activities to improve overall company performance, customer satisfaction, quality, cost and delivery
· Communicate with other departments regarding new product developments and the availability of material and supplies.
· Establish supplier credit limits and terms in conjunction with accounting department
· Establish department practices and procedures
Other Responsibilities:
Supervisory Responsibility
This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.

Education and experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a four year college or technical school; 3-6 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
