Duties & Responsibilities

• Performs complete tear down and overhaul on various types of natural gas engines. Engines include but not limited to VRG-330A/TA Waukesha, and G3306A/TA Caterpillar Engines.
• Performs complete tear down and inspections on vertical and horizontal pump units, (Allis Chalmers, Floway, Worthington, BJ, etc.) and traveling water screens.
• Performs preventive maintenance tasks on all pumping plant equipment and work according to schedules and recommendations by the manufacturer.
• Diagnoses and interprets engine problems.
• Compiles estimates of repair costs and secure approval to perform repairs, when needed.
• Utilizes precision tools to overhaul engines, levels pump to base plate, dials in Indicator, pump shaft to motor shaft on horizontal pumps.
• Maintains gas engine wiring control system, Murphy safety Switch, calibrates programs, troubleshoots and resolves problems.
• Conducts inspection and maintenance on hydraulic valve systems and hydro tank air compressors.
• Maintains good communication with supervisor, dispatch control center and NAPI or other O&M employees on pumping plant status.
• Maintains the Headwork and Cutter Dam facilities, pumping plants, check structures, laterals, and farm delivery units in a safe and clean manner through performance of custodial activities incidental to operations.
• Disassembles machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
• Repairs and replaces broken or malfunctioning components of machinery and equipment.
• Repairs and maintains the operating condition of industrial production and processing machinery and equipment.
• Operates newly repaired machinery and equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.
• Records and tracks repairs and maintenance performed.
• Conducts inspections on hydraulic cone valve, perform tear down inspection to remove parts and make repairs.
• Reassembles equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.
• Installs service components such as compressors, condensers, and controls.
• Coordinates with crop and department managers to minimize downtime of irrigation distribution systems.
• Determines cause of operating errors and works to resolve and correct these errors.
• Identifies tools and equipment needed to perform maintenance on distribution systems.
• Maintains a safe work environment by ensuring grounds/housekeeping, cleanliness of the pumping station and around the facility.

• Complies with all applicable environmental health and safety policies, procedures and work rules, giving maximum effort to performing job functions in a manner that protects the health and safety of the incumbent, co-workers, and the general public
• Performs other duties as assigned and which are deemed necessary or desirable by NAPI.
