Employment Opportunity
The Orem Public Works Department is currently hiring apprentices. This is a full-time benefited position working in one or more divisions or sections within the Public Works Department, depending upon need and skillset. No experience or certifications are needed to apply! The apprenticeship wil typicallyl last for up to six (6) months, after which it may turn into a permanent Technician or Operator position depending on performance and need. Qualifications
- High School graduation or equivalent.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license; may be required to obtain a CDL within 6 months of hire.
- Successful candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.
Pay and Benefits
The salary for Apprentices will start at $17.50 per hour with a $0.50 increase after three (3) months. At six (6) months, those who transition into a permanent Technician or Operator position will enter into the Hybrid Step/Career-Ladder pay program that allows for automatic raises on the anniversary of an employees hire/position date (step) and career advancement based on meeting certain requirements (career ladder). The current salary range for Public Works Technicians starts at $18.59 hourly ($38,671 annually), and the current salary range for Public Works Operators starts at $20.24 hourly ($42,107 annually).
