Position Objective
To provide quality service to the diverse community of Stearns County and the general public. This position is responsible for performing a wide variety of customer service duties including cash receipting, processing of documents and other general office duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Prepares, evaluates and processes applications for various licenses, title transfers, registrations, and filings.
2. Responds to public inquiries and requests for information in person and by telephone and other correspondence.
3. Reviews legal documents to ensure accuracy and completeness and process as required by law.
4. Enters pertinent data into computer accurately for efficient retrieval of requested document information.
5. Processes payments; balances receipts and fees and makes deposits on a daily basis; prepares and balances monthly reports for fees received and documents recorded.
6. Makes accurate and/or certified copies of recorded legal documents.
7. Processes mailings and other correspondence.
8. Conducts daily inventory of license plates, stickers and other state supplied materials.
9. Prepares materials, reports, forms and other written/visual materials.
10. Attends work in a regular and timely manner.
11. Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.
Minimum Qualifications
In order to be considered for this position, applicants must possess the following:
High school graduate or equivalent- Two years of paid clerical/office or customer service experience
- Experience serving customers face-to-face and over the telephone
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and internet navigation
- Ability to comply with Bureau of Criminal Apprehension security requirements
- Cashier/counter experience
- Experience with handling cash transactions
- Greeting, anticipating needs of, and providing superior service to customers
- Accessing and maintaining information in an electronic database
- Data entry
- Working in a County Service Center or as a title clerk with a car dealership
1. Knowledge of customer service principles and practices in high volume setting.
2. Knowledge and understanding of standard office practices and procedures.
3. Knowledge of basic accounting principles, practice and procedures.
4. Ability to understand and explain instructions, policies, statutes, rules, procedures and systems to the general public.
5. Ability to prepare written and statistical reports.
6. Ability to respond to public inquiries in a respectful, courteous and helpful manner.
7. Ability to organize and prioritize work within limited time lines.
8. Ability to work independently on a variety of assignments.
9. Ability to follow instructions, adhere to schedules and perform work assignments.
10. Ability to be tactful and adept in dealing with a wide variety of people.
11. Ability to work with material in a confidential manner.
12. Ability to adapt to a changing work schedule.
13. Ability to maintain and demonstrate working knowledge of existing and changing laws and guidelines.
14. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
15. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing in another language, Spanish and Somali speakers preferred.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
The primary responsibilities for this position will be performed approximately 100% of the time indoors. Occasionally operate drive thru window station. Will have minimal exposure to health hazards and accidents; requires a low to moderate level of physical effort.
Extent of Supervision or Guidance Provided
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Office Services Supervisor.

Frequent.
Hours of Work
This position has a normal work schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; may include some evening and weekend hours.
