Arxada is looking for a Project Engineer-Scale Up and Development in Alpharetta, GA or Conley, GA to work in the Manufacturing Process Optimization (MPO) team. The purpose of the MPO team is to 1) increase product yields on all steps of the plant process by driving capacity increase projects, 2) develop 2nd generation processes using new state-of the art manufacturing technologies, 3) assist with scale-up and piloting of new processes, and 4) working with toll manufacturers on process adaptions.
Key responsibilities:
- Serve as a first point of contact for the remote Arxada sites in optimizing their production processes. Understand the technical and/or operational issue and give advice.
- Assist and guide new product development from R&T to Production scale (Piloting).
- Give guidance and support to improve plant Operational Excellence (e.g. OEE tracking). Support implementation of OE tools and methodology
- Identify optimization potentials and if possible lead the implementation with local resources as a project manager
- Evaluate sites and processes based on benchmark KPIs which reflect cost efficiency (Maintenance, degree of automation, capacity utilization etc.)
- If necessary organize required funds (CAPEX process, including establishing a business case) and coordinate the implementation (contractor managing)
- For technical or operational challenging problems and/or high CAPEX projects, organize and coordinate support from the Arxada expert network (e.g R&T group, Global engineering) and work as a facilitator
- Review and provide oversight of manufacturing operations audits to ensure that policies and procedures are in compliance with Arxada standards.
- Travel 50% between Alpharetta and Conley locations, Travel outside these locations 0-10%
Key requirements:
- Bachelors in Chemistry (with relevant experience) or Chemical Engineering (preferred)
- 10+ years industry experience preferably in a Process Safety Management (PSM) Plant. Preferred is experience as a process and/or operations engineer/manager
- Strong project management skills and agile problem solving skills, experience in handling Operational Excellence projects, Development projects and CAPEX projects
- Ability to handle multiple projects (up to 5) simultaneously, keeping track of costs and schedule and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards. Use organizational skills to prioritize and resolve project issues. Ability to evaluate solutions and recommend action based on scope, schedule, and budget
- Understanding of the applied technology, especially excellent understanding of the different applied unit operations (e.g. agitation, milling, crystallization, reaction technology) and the scientific concept behind it
- Ability to think out-of-the-box and development of innovative solutions for upcoming problems
- Direct experience with Milling, preferably wet milling equipment a plus
- Willingness to work in a pilot plant environment
- Understanding of Data Analytic tools and their implementation in a chemical plant environment a plus
- Advanced problem solving skills in the field of own discipline, developed communication skills to exchange complex information; team player; written and oral communication in English language
- Ability to generate Process Flow Diagrams, Mass & Energy Balances, and P&IDs
- Project Management skills in Scale up, Piloting, Commissioning or De-commissioning or Start up work experience.
