As a Project Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- cross functional initiative that will execute a series of critically important new product & product redesign programs to deliver our brand promise of innovation and strong reliability to our customers
- This position will be focused on developing a deep understanding of our customer’s needs/market environment followed by managing specific Process Hardware orders to further our Customer First strategy
- This work will include a thorough understanding of our product families and the process that they are use in followed by executing programs around new product design, existing product modification and integration of systems to enable accelerated business growth
- Propose “Design to Cost” solutions when required
- Approve Design related Technical Data package (design, calculation...) provided by vendors
- Manage, under the Eng’r Mng’r direction, the existing vessels families (includes proposal for design changes to stay align with regulation evolution) and owns AMERICAS Vessel portfolio Legal Design Authority
- Ensure the proper support in field of competencies and responsibilities when customer order is placed (technical aspects, quality, and compliance of proposed solutions)
- Support the global outsourcing teams in vendor selection and ongoing vendor management.
- Support regional sales teams with pressure vessel technical expertise, vessel portfolio selection, materials of construction and regulatory requirements
- Support all required documentation packages needed by customers to approve and accept products
- Stay updated with new design concepts, manufacturing techniques and regulation advancements
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) in a Science and/or Engineering discipline from an accredited institution
- Two (2) years of experience in Mechanical related to fluid process equipment, i.e. pressure vessels, piping, valves, pumps, etc. in a private, public, or military environment -OR- Engineering project from college is permitted.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Master's degree or higher in a Science or Engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in metal pressure vessel design and/or metal products fabrication
- Working knowledge of pressure vessel regulations and design codes (ASME, NR 13, CSA for Canada…).
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma tools.
- Strong communication skills, proven ability to develop and maintain productive networks within the 3M technical community with demonstrated ability to influence.
- Experience with unit cost modeling
- Experience leading or participating in cross functional teams
- Fluency in English, Spanish and Portuguese
