The Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (District) is a regional government agency that provides water reclamation and flood management services for about 1.1 million people in 28 communities in the greater Milwaukee area. The District's mission protects public health and the environment through world-class, cost-effective water resource management, leadership, and partnership.The District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Project Engineer in the Technical Services Division. Reporting to the Construction Support Manager, you will assist senior staff in the performance of project management and/or construction management duties for assigned District contracts or projects in any of the three primary focus areas: water reclamation facilities, conveyance, and watercourse.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Provide construction management services under the guidance of the Construction Support Manager to assist in managing and administering construction contracts, ensuring that all provisions of the contract are in compliance with contract documents and regulations.Manage Material Capital Repair of Replacement contracts ensuring all provisions of the contract are in compliance with contract documents and regulations.Develop understanding of District assets and processes and relationship of same to assigned project(s). Troubleshoot contract-installed materials and equipment, interacting with stakeholders as needed to identify problems and plan for resolution of same. Develop project costs and schedule for budgeting purposes.Assist in preparation of all required construction management documentation, including daily inspections reports, submittals, change orders, engineering estimates, claim analysis, correspondence, District standard construction management forms, red-line drawings, etc.Review contract plans and specifications prior to bidding for constructability issues. In the office setting, review contract plans and specifications developed by consultants to ensure the project as designed meets the objectives of the project as scoped.Prepare technical memos and documents, as well as Commission documents and presentations.Serve as back-up to construction staff for fixed, routine tasks.Complete special projects as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in civil/environmental/mechanical or related engineering discipline degreeZero to two years of job-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experienceAbility to apply written and oral communication skills to the completion of job dutiesAbility to keep accurate and detailed records, field notes, and to contribute to detailed technical reports and recordsAbility to establish and maintain effective public and working relationsAbility to read, interpret, and work with blueprints, specifications, and plansKnowledge of and the ability to apply various construction codes and standardsAbility to perform all jobs testing accurately Ability to apply knowledge of OSHA confined entry procedures to the safe completion of job duties and ability to use surveying equipment and field-testing equipmentAbility to enter into a tunnel, uneven terrain, or work in a confined space area; ability to access a confined space through a 20-inch diameterAbility to lift 25 pounds frequently and up to 45 pounds occasionallyComputer software proficiency in Word, Excel, scheduling software, and GIS software knowledgeExperience in wastewater conveyance, treatment systems, or watercourse conveyance system engineering and design is desirableExperience in managing small construction projects is desirable Valid driver's license and a good driving record at time of application and throughout employment

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in an office environment 20% of the time and is exposed to outside weather conditions 80% of the time.
