Program Support Specialist Job at Department of Youth Rehabilita
This position is located in the Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services (DYRS) Operations and Administrative Services. DYRS’ mission is to improve public safety and provide court-involved youth the opportunity to become more productive citizens by building on the strengths of youth and their families in the least restrictive, most home-like environment consistent with public safety. Emphasis will be placed on best practices for interacting with youth, via short-term basic programming for youth in temporary short-term detention; or a treatment-oriented milieu for youth in longer-term custody depending on the legal status of the youth and based on the principles of Positive Youth Development.
This role is critical for the success of the Support Services Manager, by providing administrative tasks related to compliance, program growth and monitoring progress.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Program Support Specialist will provide immediate and continuing support by briefing the supervisor on a variety of confidential matters pertaining to administrative operations and recommending courses of action, The Program Support Specialist will draft and prepare written correspondence including agendas, reports, and minutes ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness with limited supervision and direction. This includes composing, preparing, transcribing, proofreading, and/or editing a wide variety of paperwork including that of a confidential, complex, and/or technical nature.
The incumbent will also represent the Support Services Manager in meetings when unavailable; speaks on Support Services Manager behalf, and record information from these meetings and disseminates as needed. Responsibilities also includes: Completing quality assurance audits of documentation. Daily review of incoming emails to assist with prioritization, extensive project management and data review, responsible for managing and facilitating division events, meetings, presentations and trainings and other duties as needed. Creating, developing, and implementing all youth and community events.
Qualifications and Education
Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the individual with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, the incumbent must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.

Working Conditions / Environment
The incumbent works primarily in an office setting however, some tasks will require fieldwork in juvenile correctional facilities or community based residential or nonresidential settings.
