Overview of the Position:
Social Solutions International, Inc. (Social Solutions) has an immediate opening for a Program Assistant assigned to work on a part-time basis on a contract with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The Program Assistant is a member of a core management and M&E teams responsible for delivering on the objectives of the Program Cycle Mechanism with USAID. The work includes analytical, technical, and administrative tasks. SSI sub-partners on the Program Cycle Mechanism, a multi-year institutional support contract managed by the USAID Bureau for Policy, Planning and Learning (PPL) and implemented by EI with four partner organizations. This high-performing and busy team is focused on helping USAID to improve the effectiveness and sustainability of USAID interventions in order to achieve lasting development outcomes. The Program Cycle is the USAID operational model for planning, delivering, assessing, and adapting development programming in a given region, sector, or country to advance U.S. foreign policy.
Assistance provided under institutional support contract includes the development or revision of policy, guidance, training; supporting innovative capacity building approaches; providing direct staffing and technical assistance support to Mission and Washington offices; supporting the implementation of the Program Cycle at an Agency-wide level; and facilitating the sharing of Program Cycle resources online with USAID internal and external audiences.

The Program Assistant will backstop staff on SSI’s PCM team in aspects of mobilization, overseas support, technical assistance, and reporting.

Responsibilities:
  • Engage with the DCOP and the core team on general management-related activities related to task order compliance and approval documentation processes.
  • Backstop, as assigned, short-term technical advisors, core team members, and Fellows on overseas assignments.
  • Assist with development of monitoring and evaluation strategy in respect to internal programming. Includes: developing and optimizing Program Cycle systems; soliciting, collecting, organizing, analyzing, and visualizing quantitative and qualitative data for special analyses and routine deliverables to USAID.
  • Manage special projects and events at the direction of the DCOP, developing strategy, facilitating internal and external engagement, coordinating and drafting deliverables.
  • Manage components of PCM’s operational system. Contribute to Knowledge Management for PCM.
  • Manage communication and presentation products and materials, as assigned.
  • Respond to requests (via direct response or appropriate referral) for assistance from the point of contact in USAID. Assign priority to requests and seek feedback as necessary.
  • Coordinate travel for employees and consultants. Directly engage with the Travel Agency and fill out various paperwork ranging from travel authorizations to visa applications.
  • Format and copyedit written products.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of USAID policies and guidelines, as well as corporate practices and procedures. Stay up to date with government and agency rules and regulations in areas that affect implementation.
  • Orient new staff and Fellows to the Program.
  • Contribute to technical activities for PCM based on interest and skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a field related to international development, research, or management and 4+ years’ relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Skills in all aspects of data organization, analysis, and visualization desired.
  • Experience organizing electronic files and providing IT support desired.
  • Experience organizing workshops and events desired.
  • Requires high proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, Google applications, Adobe Professional (forms), and other content management systems.
  • Interest in budgeting and program management desired.
  • Experience in the use of database applications.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance.
