The Production Shift Manager is responsible for safely manufacturing quality products through the efficient use of manpower, materials, and equipment. The Production Shift Manager directs the activities of the extrusion and converting/printing/recycle departments, promotes safe work practices, maintains production schedules and record keeping, and ensures quality standards are met. This position plans work, makes assignments, assists in the hiring process, trains new employees, and administers company policies consistently.
Knowledge and Skills Preferred:
- High School Diploma; College Degree Preferred
- PE Blown Film experience preferred
- Individual coaching, performance management
- Proven track record of meeting quantitative metrics
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills

- 5 years supervisory experience in manufacturing

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Promote safety in the workplace on a daily basis; lead and direct Safety Program on a team as defined
- Lead safety discussions with associates, audit associate safety practices during walk arounds
- Attendance – be present for scheduled shifts and additional management team meetings as necessary
- Read, review, suggest improvement and follow issued production schedule
- Assess staffing levels, adhere to budgeted headcount numbers for work needs, and work with HR to fill
- Provide on-the-job training for associates in all areas of their job duties
- Maintain housekeeping standards by inspecting each line; update line charts with data & comments
- Assist in planning for job changes with line technicians; conduct daily operator audits
- Identify limiting factors of production and make recommendations for continual improvement

- Document department procedure and work instructions updating as necessary
- Approve time and attendance and assignments in multiple departments in time keeping software
- Accurately complete production reports; complete details of run time report
- Work in conjunction with HR to deliver coaching sessions to associates
- Comply with and consistently administer company policies
- Accurate Safety, Production, Scrap, Quality an HR recordkeeping
- Maintain compliance with QMS system; QA Scrap & First Piece Approvals
- Schedule regular communication meetings to promote team building and improvement
- Report all safety, human resources, quality, scrap and production issues to manager
- Attend training seminars and complete other duties as assigned by manager
Job Location/Working Conditions/Equipment:
Work in a manufacturing setting for 12 hour shifts, some time spent at desk creating excel reports and tracking production measurables. This is a night shift position working a 2-2-3 schedule, 8p-8a, Su/W/Th and M/Tu/F/Sa alternating weeks.
