Overview:

This role is to provide shift team and site wide leadership for the Allentown Converting facility. This leader will maximize the safe and profitable operation of the Allentown assets by development and implementation of excellent communication processes, performance evaluation programs, capability development, hiring assistance and team building methods. A successful candidate will bring safety and operational leadership while driving employee engagement across the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide team leadership working directly with team lead technician to promote safety, collaboration and operational excellence
  • Safety leader on shift holding full responsibility and leadership in continuously improving all aspects of site Health and Safety program
  • Accountable to ensure the Allentown operation achieves safety, quality, productivity, cost, delivery and waste performance objectives through use of high performance work systems
  • Management of site safety, quality and product manufacturing execution systems
  • Lead through others while managing a union environment
  • Minimize scheduling/production bottlenecks
  • Assist in the setting and achievement of specific shift performance targets that align and coordinate to meet the sites budget commitments
  • Support site continuous improvement projects to include safety, cost and operational efficiency
  • Design and implement semi-annual performance feedback reviews
  • Act as primary communicator between the teams, maintenance organization and site leadership – work directly with maintenance resources to meet asset availability metrics
  • Assist lead technician in improving the overlap meeting communication, improving team resourcing for maximum production, use of downtime, cost, yield and broke data to help team, coordinate and insure training objectives are met and documented, approve time records and reliability, insure work orders are submitted and provide recognition/informal rewards to support team building and employee engagement
  • The work of this position is such that it may require coverage on a seven day a week basis, including off hours as needed to support the operation
  • Responsible to insure work is done on site safely and properly to ensure top quality and service to the customer. Responsible to develop processes to help support this goal and to follow-up to make sure all employees follow procedures
  • Troubleshoot system, label, and printer issues
  • Insure clarity, consistency, and fairness in every aspect of the site’s discipline system – insure team compliance to negotiated contract

Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 2-5 years’ experience in operational / manufacturing supervision
  • Methodical problem solving ability
  • Solid personal computer skills, including MS Excel and Access
  • Experience with MICS and/or SAP and CIMS is preferred
  • Familiarity with unionized work environments including working within CBA’s
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written
  • Very high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to self-direct and motivate
  • Level headed balancing of multiple tasks and conflicting priorities
  • Ability to resolve interpersonal conflicts and build an engaged workforce
  • Must be able and willing to confront others and hold them accountable for following proper procedures
  • Must be able to display professional communication and attitude with internal and external customers at all times without becoming upset
  • Must be highly reliable and committed to customer focus and the success of the business
  • Leadership skills with relatable manufacturing operations experience
  • Familiarity with paper converting or paper manufacturing operations preferred
  • Knowledge and experience using LSS, Kaizan, Lean and KT methodologies for problem solving and continuous improvement – LSS Green belt certification is preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $75,000.00 per year
