Production Planner and Scheduler Job at Philz Coffee
This role Betters Days by designing and implementing tools, processes and forecasting models to schedule, produce, and manage inventory of packaged coffee blends. Additionally, this position will manage short-term production projections that include green bean requirements, packaging materials, and lead the lean manufacturing / continuous improvement and 5S efforts at the Roasting Plant.
This is an on-site position based at our Oakland, CA Roasting Plant facility.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Oversight of Short-Term Schedule and Production Plan
- Develop statistical planning models based on historical trends and anticipated demand drivers, and regularly evaluate plan vs. actuals to enable dynamic adjustment Plan equipment, material and manpower requirements to meet weekly production schedule requirements
- Use and maintain current demand-planning systems to create the most efficient production plan possible and reorder all raw materials used in the production process
- Develop, monitor and communicate reports on plan accuracy to business unit and supply chain organizations through the Demand Planning scorecard in order to drive continuous improvement
- Utilize sales data, promotional calendar, and strong analytics to develop item-level 8 week plan projections
- Partner with key internal and external stakeholders for critical materials for procurement for key suppliers
Oversight of Data integrity and Use of NetSuite
- Standardize and analyze raw data from ERP / MRP system
- Monitor trends in planning deviations and utilize analysis to drive corrective action
- Lead the implementation of a regular process for incorporating Sales, Product, and Finance input on demand drivers
- Collaborate on new product forecasts with Sales, Product, and Finance teams and generate plan for sustaining volumes
- Perform troubleshooting and maintenance of coffee items within the Netsuite Item Master Files
Develop & Implement Processes
- Partner with Operations to enable capacity planning and inventory strategies
- Design and implement systems to improve production planning service levels, quality of work, and cost positions through process, supply or execution improvements
- Document, communicate and follow-up on action plans to completion
- Analyze various scenario analyses related to capacity, new product introductions and inventory levels and make recommendations
- Develop, measure and communicate production planning related KPIs, including, inventory turns, labor utilization, safety stock, and total inventory
- Develop, implement and maintain a production planning scorecard in the future to measure accuracy / adherence etc
- Lead the cross functional Lean Manufacturing and 5S team effort within the Roasting Plant
- Lead the NetSuite Advanced Manufacturing efforts within the Roasting Plant
- Other duties and responsibilities as directed and special projects as needed
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Operations, Engineering, Mathematics, Systems Integration or a related field or equivalent experience preferred
- 2 - 4 years of experience in Demand Planning, Manufacturing Planning, or Supply Chain Analytics.
- Excellent math, analytical and problem solving skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Familiar with lean tools and processes preferred
- Experience/knowledge of coffee, coffee production, and coffee industry preferred.
- Experience working with Procurement, Production, Logistics, Sales, Marketing, and new product development processes preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Expert Excel skills
- Google Suite and MS Office Suite preferred
- Enterprise System experience required, NETSUITE / JD Edwards / SAP preferred
**Compensation & Benefits
A reasonable estimate of the starting annual base salary for this role is $80,000 to $88,000. Please note that the base salary will vary based on qualifications, previous experience, and work location.
