Private Caregiver Job at Tots N Toyland
Seeking a Private Caregiver to work with an 11-year-old boy on the Autism Spectrum. The schedule will be Monday through Friday from 8:00am-4:00pm. Primary objectives are:
- Provide 1:1 direct support to assist the child with activities of daily living such as dressing, toileting, meal prep, cleaning, hand washing, and organization of the work and play space.
- Teach basic writing, math, and reading skills during learning time.
- Manage behavioral outbursts to ensure the child is safe while also gaining compliance with caregiver demands.
The workplace environment will primarily be located inside the child’s residential home located in Penn Laird, but will also extend to the child's therapy clinic and secondary home location in Elkton. The ideal candidate will possess:
- 1+ years of experience working with children on the Autism Spectrum with behavioral challenges, OR
- 1+ years of experience teaching or assisting in a school classroom where children with learning disabilities or behavioral challenges were attending
- Clean driving record and clean criminal background
Candidate must be:
- Highly proficient with multi-tasking, conflict resolution, emotional deescalation, instructional control and keeping accurate data daily.
- Tolerant and patient and willing to manage frequent behavioral outbursts
- Punctual and reliable
- A nonsmoker
- Able to lift 75+ pounds
- Passionate about children reaching personal and academic goals
