Prevention Facilitator

The McCall Prevention Facilitator functions as a member of the Prevention Department. The Prevention Facilitator will dedicate their Full-time position to implementing a number of prevention programs in the greater Torrington area including, youth substance use prevention curriculum, suicide prevention curriculum, and promoting broad prevention programming in the Litchfield County area. The position will have a flexible 40 hour per week schedule based on the timing of the various groups and programs throughout the year.

Pay range $21-$23/hour

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• · Implement school-based prevention programs, health class presentations, and community tabling events.
• · Recruit for and lead weekly youth recovery groups using the “SMART Recovery” model.
• · Expand department service offerings by interfacing directly with relevant schools, communities, and organizations, to increase the reach of services.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

BA/BS degree in social work, public health, or related field, or 2 years experience working with prevention or related public health initiatives. Strong leadership qualities with the ability to function in a team environment and in collaboration with schools, law enforcement, and other community leaders is critical. Strong group facilitation skills are critical. Demonstrated ability to effectively implement prevention initiatives with diverse populations in a culturally responsive and respectful manner is required. Excellent communication and documentation skills, attention to detail, computer skills, organization, and time management skills are required. The position also requires a flexible schedule and local travel.

The successful candidate will possess the abilities necessary to effectively facilitate psychoeducational groups, as well as possess an understanding of environmental prevention strategies.

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
