Portfolio Manager (Specialty Lending/Professional Services) Job at Republic Bank of Chicago
GENERAL FUNCTION:
The Specialty Lending Portfolio Manager is responsible for the overall administration, risk management, and credit quality of each client relationship in an assigned portfolio. Responsibilities include origination, renewal, underwriting, credit monitoring, relationship management, and evaluation of commercial loan requests. This individual will collaborate with a Commercial Lender or Team Leader on due diligence of credit requests. In addition, he/she will partner with our Documentation and Loan Operations teams as needed or required for closings and other portfolio related tasks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the preparation of quality, detailed financial analysis, including cash flow models and collateral evaluations to identify potential credit risks.
- Evaluate, spread, and analyze complex financial statements to prepare a credit request or review.
- Make recommendations in accordance with sound banking practices to minimize risk exposure.
- Ensure commercial loan requests adhere to current regulatory guidelines, bank policies, and lending procedures.
- Effectively communicate and partner with the Commercial Lender or Team Leader to assist with monitoring of the loan portfolio, including current operating performance and repayment ability. Identify opportunities for new products and services for existing clients through Treasury Management or other bank departments.
- Participate in on-site and off-site client meetings with the Commercial Lender or Team Leader.
- Maintain status reports as assigned and actively monitor non-performing loans. Take appropriate action to ensure repayment of past due loans or overdrawn accounts.
- If needed, assist in performing appraisal reviews.
- Complete special projects as required by senior management and other additional responsibilities as requested.

- Prepare loan presentations accurately and in a timely manner.
- Know and understand the Bank’s Lending Policy to make independent decisions within the parameters of the policy.
- Maintain current and frequent communication with customers, conducting relationships in a professional manner that will enhance the overall marketing effort of the bank.
- Develop strong internal relationships with Credit Administration, Commercial Lending, Loan Operations, Treasury Management, and other bank teams to ensure a seamless customer experience.
Required Skills
- Ability to analyze and interpret numerical and financial data
- Strong understanding of industry and market conditions
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of MS Suite of Products (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Strong organizational skills
- Familiarity with Sageworks Risk Analyst tool (preferred)
Required Experience
- Completed Bachelor’s degree in Business, preferably Accounting or Finance
- 4+ years of experience in Credit Analysis, Commercial Lending, Documentation, or related commercial banking function
