Dog Days and Cat Naps is currently looking for an exceptional Pet Sitter and/or Private Boarder in the St Augustine area to join our wonderful network of pet sitters. Pet Sitter Responsibilities:

• Care for pets on weekdays, weekends and holidays - as pet visits vary based on client needs and your availability

• Enter the homes of clients and visit with their pets for varying lengths of time (usually 30- 60 minutes each)

• Walk dogs as required

• Feed pets

• Clean litter boxes

• Check that pets have ample water supply and refill as necessary

• Head to toe well check on all pets

• Make sure no damage caused by pets in the absence of their owners

• Confirm that if any potty accidents have occurred in the homes of our clients to clean up.

• Communicate with clients and with management during visits.

Pet SitterRequirements and Qualifications:

• Must have your own, reliable mode of transportation to perform the duties and responsibilities associated with this role

• Must be extremely detail oriented

• Able to follow detailed instructions

• Must be responsible, reliable, and dependable

• Must be timely and punctual

• Must be able to self-manage

• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Must be compassionate about animals

• Must feel comfortable working with and interacting with both small and large animals

• Must be able to pass criminal background check

Additional Information:

Pet Sitting visits are AM/PM/weekend/holidays. Dog walks/Pet visits are typically a half-hour in length. Private Boarding includes watching 1-2 dogs in your home for a short time. Midday Dog Walking is generally Mon-Fri 12-2pm on a recurring basis.

More Details: Travel to pet owners' homes to care for their pets (dogs, cats, and other small pets). Feed pets, walk dogs (or let out in the yard), clean litter boxes, provide fresh water/treats/meds as needed, pick up mail/newspapers, water plants, leave pet care notes, and provide love/attention/playtime for pets while their owners are away. Meet with pet owners during new client consultations. Dealing with home alarms, nanny cams, gps check-in/check-out, key lockboxes, security gates to access homes may be required.

In-home pet sitting visits vary; you may be required to visit pets during morning, afternoon, and evening hours as well as on weekends and holidays. Our busiest time of the year is over the holidays, so holiday pet sitting is required. This is a permanent, part-time position (not available for only summer vacation, Spring Break, etc).

Pet sitting/dog walking visits are normally 30-minutes. Pet visits will be within approx 8-12 miles from your home, work, etc. Pet sitting assignments will be intermittent and we cannot promise a certain number of pet visits per day/week/month. Typically, you may be required to pet sit for pets for a week or weekend while their owners are on vacation, 2-3 times per day, around 7-9am, 3-5pm, 8-10pm (or twice a day, 7-9am and 7-9pm). Midday dog walking is an ongoing assignment, normally weekdays from about 12-2pm.

Requirements: Must have reliable transportation and valid drivers license. Must LOVE pets and have experience with dogs and cats, and be knowledgeable about animal care and behavior. Veterinary experience preferred, but not required. Must be able to provide GREAT customer service to pet owners. Must have regular access to a computer (email) and cell phone. Customer service experience preferred. Must have a flexible schedule and be at least 20 years old. Must be willing to submit to random drug testing and criminal background/employment/reference check. Must be very reliable/dependable and be willing to work for at least a year with our clients and pets.

Pay: $9.00 per 30-minute visit (includes mileage up to 8 miles one-way). $2.00 extra per visit for mileage over 8 miles, $4 extra per visit for mileage over 12 miles. $2.50 extra per each additional 15-minutes requested by client. $2.00 extra per visit on holidays. $2 extra per visit for caring for more than 4 pets in a household. Private boarding pays $25/night for one dog, $30/night for two dogs.
