The Glennville Eye Surgery Center is seeking a Registered Nurse on a PRN basis that specializes in perianesthesia. The Perianesthesia Registered Nurse will be responsible for performing nursing care for the patients in the preoperative and postoperative areas.

Job Responsibilities will include the following:

Duties

• Effectively organizes time, equipment, and supplies
• Uses equipment effectively by anticipating patient needs and providing appropriate care
• Confirms that proper techniques and procedures are used according to accepted standards of practice
• Assists in managing inventory of supplies, drugs, and equipment to maintain availability and stock levels in the perianesthesia area
• Maintains order and cleanliness of perianesthesia area
• Performs safe and individualized nursing care for the patient
• Assesses the patient’s physical and emotional status
• Documents care with accuracy
• Develops a plan of care for the patient based on the assessment data
• Provides preoperative/procedural education
• Provides comfort and reassurance to the patient and promotes privacy and dignity
• Monitors patients and informs surgeon or anesthesiologist of observed complications
• Reviews postoperative instructions and prescriptions from the surgeon with patient and postoperative caregiver, determines understanding of instructions, and documents in the patient’s medical record
• Serves in a charge nurse capacity when designated by Clinical Director
• Acts as preceptor to newly hired nurses as designated by Clinical Director or Charge Nurse
• Delegates appropriate tasks to unlicensed assistive personnel
• Cross trains to various perianesthesia areas as needed by the unit
• Assists with Yag Laser procedures as assigned

The Perianesthesia Registered Nurse must have the following qualifications:

Educational Requirements

• BSN, ADN or diploma in nursing required
• Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Georgia
• BLS
• ACLS
• Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal and telephone communication in American English
• Preferred: ASC experience, Computer literacy
